So, I cancelled my subscription. I will probably be back, but I just can't seem to motivate myself to log on. I am just not excited about MoP, and I feel like the game is getting too simple to keep me entertained. I hope that things get more fun for me in the future so that I can come back and have fun again. If history tells me anything... I will be back.

Welcome and join the hundreds of thousands of players who decided to take a break.(not me)

Log on to the World of Warcraft site. (See Resources.) Click on the "Account" section on the left-hand side, then click the menu option labeled "Manage Account." A menu will appear asking for your account name and password.

Once you have logged in, click on "Cancel Subscription." A screen will appear featuring a crying peon and a list of text asking you for your reasons. You can fill in whatever answers you like. There is a menu of general reasons, which you can embellish with a few words of your own. Blizzard Entertainment appreciates honesty, but try to be courteous and clear when giving your reasons. Constructive criticism may help them address whatever problem caused you to leave, rather than just dismissing your cancellation as the act of a crank.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page once you have filled out the questions and click the button marked "Yes, Cancel It." Your subscription should now be canceled, and you will not be billed any further.

Contact any in-game guilds you belong to or friends you may have met, and let them know that you have canceled your subscription. It's not necessary, but it's considered good form. Otherwise, your in-game buddies may wonder what happened to you or depend on you for support in the game--support you will no longer be able to provide.

We will see you in Mist of Pokemon my dear friend.

Enjoy your time away. You'll be growing pokemon in your very own farm and replacing your mount with a pet Druid before you know it. Smiley: grin

Haven't been playing since January, which is the first major break I've had since the game was released.

Not really looking forward to MoP, except that I really want to level up a Gnome Fury Warrior with Bladestorm for giggles. Everything else is just a lot of meh.

If you're looking for a replacement MMO, a bunch have gone to a F2P model recently, or a partial one (like WoW has now). Rift, for instance, will let you play up to level 20 without a subscription. AION is F2P now, or something.

If you want a friend trial for The Old Republic, you can PM me your email. There's also a free weekend pass starting today.

No trial for TERA yet, but I know a bunch of Zammers have started playing it (and are enjoying it). I played in the open beta before launch, and the combat is definitely fun.

That's all that is coming to mind right now. I'm sure I'm missing something notable.

Thanks for the info, Digg.

Time to see what they've done to Rift since I played it.

I've logged in once in the past two weeks, but it's because I'm actually busy IRL, nor that I'm necessarily bored. Realized the other day I haven't played a warlock since they had the soul shard change, and thought that might be fun. I just don't have the time to do it Smiley: frown

I unsubscribed about 2 weeks ago.

I was working on an ALT, but I realized that it's logging me for regular heroics. (You only get Blue Items)

I'm geared to get into ZA stuff, but since ZA/ZG is grouped w/ the regulars - I almost never got them.

So I ditched the /LFD and just queue up. (Weekday - 8pm) The wait was 42 minutes.

If I go for a /LFD - the wait is about 12 minutes... Then add on the 30 minute deserter debuff....

I agree though - they've made it too simple and I have no interest in MoP. I unsub'd from CATA after 3 months. I came back as the summer ended and played through November. Then the guild kind of slowed down for the holidays. We picked it up again (Jan-Feb), but then everyone just kind of went away. The LFR tool was the biggest thing. Turned DW into a "Single-Player" event. You don't need a guild, just log on, LFR, WIN.

Can't say I'm done. Can say it's gone for the summer. Probably check out MoP's reviews before I come back.

I'm personally hoping that the success of the initial implementation of the LFR difficulty level will allow the designers (especially in view of the fact that progressive nerfs are now an explicit part of the design) to be less conservative about Normal difficulty. Same thing with 5-mans - they can feel free to go back to Wrath-style AoE-fest dungeons (especially since it looks like valor points will play a much smaller role in the gearing process) due to the existence of Challenge mode, where they don't have to pull any punches at all.

Also, the very existence of a casual-friendly endgame (faction dailies, farmville, pokemon) should mean that the bar for raiding doesn't have to be artificially lowered to make sure everyone has something to do. Maybe it will allow them to tune raiding 10% tighter across the board from the start. Not enough to keep people out, but at least to make it so that guilds like mine can't finish the ultimate tier before the maximum nerf unless we have our top team together all on our game. Unlike this tier.

I have played since mid-Vanilla and never unsubscribed... but WoW is getting more and more dumbed down.

In Vanilla many of the quests were challenging. Getting a max-level character was an accomplishment. If you were in an instance that wasn't severly low-level, everyone had to do their job properly or the group would wipe.

Since then it has gotten easier and easier. Leveling a character is a complete joke. My last two toon have gone from 1-85 only dying a few times. The pre-Cata instances are so severly nerfed that it doesn't matter what anyone does. Someone has to try to wipe the party for it to happen. None of this is challenging or interesting.

Queing for instances and raids has ruined the social aspect of the game. You no longer need friends or guildies. You can get a group whenever you want, with a bunch of people you will never meet ever again... who often treat you like they will never meet you ever again. The cross-server battlegrounds have harmed the game also. My faction used to be very successful in BG's, and we would see the same friends and enemies often. Now it is just a bunch of strangers on both sides, and my faction usually loses because the players in my "battlegroup" usually just farm HK's and don't care at all whether they win or not.

I still log in most days and play a little bit. And I know that I can do higher-level raids, arena, and rated BG's to be somewhat challenged. Still, I wish the dumbing down process would be turned around. One of my friends said that WoW has become the MacDonald's of MMO's, and I'd have to say that he's completely correct.

Simply not true. Blizzard has just made it easier to acquire epics, thus made players more powerful.

In my guild in vanilla, we would regularly demolish beginning dungeons for guild mates' alts. It was incredibly easy in epics and required very little organization on our part.

Take a group of T2/AQ geared players into LBRS/UBRS/etc and we cleaned shop like people in epics do in current heroics and 85 dungeons. It's just easier to get the gear because of LFD/LFR.

Same thing in TBC and WotLK, BTW.

Playing The Old Republic right now, the change from WoW makes me appreciate certain things from WoW but I do not miss sitting in Stormwind with nothing to do.

Nothing I have read about MoP has left me with a desire to play it. Despite all of my ranting about Naxx, easy modes etc in WotLK, it was the changes to healing in Cata that killed the game for me. I miss tank healing :(

I've never canceled in the . .3? 4 maybe? . .years I've played (whenever Ulduar came out), but I have taken a couple 3 months breaks. I'm currently still playing daily but I guess I just don't care or have the drive to do things in-game that I used to.

I got my main server's 10th 85 months ago now and 9 of the 10 are at least LFR geared. My raid main is about 399 ilvl I think and the only real grind for me now is showing up twice (or lately thrice) weekly as we're trying heroic bosses in DS. Even there though, I am left with the distinct feeling of "why does it matter if I get better stuff? To keep doing this?" Even if I get a few more 410s there's nothing higher to kill anyway and they'll be vended as soon as MoP comes out.

It is for this same reason I have lost all drive to gear up any of my other toons any further. I LOVE playing my hunter and rogue but . . .what's the point? I'm certainly not adding any more raid days to my schedule so they'll never see anything above LFR; I have to force myself to the raid I currently run. I love the group, great people, and we're doing really well so I don't want to just ditch them (I'm top healer/midpack dps and my wife is main tank) but on raid nights I would just sooooo rather be doing something else.

Mostly when I'm not raiding I hop over to my horde server and play there. Got my pally tank up to 50-something over the weekend and having a blast with that as my dwarf has always been strictly heals.

If it wasn't for the fact that my wife and I have a lot of fun playing together and this is one of "our things," and my obligations to our raid crew, I'd probably be doing a lot more of something else lately.
