My guild has trouble getting enough people online to run raids/instances on a regular basis. However, we have found that if we set up a guild event on the calendar and have people sign up we have more of a turn out and we can make guild runs in instances at least. Plus, the higher level players that show up can help the lower level members run for gear in the lower level instances, if needed.

I'm trying to figure out how to phrase this so it doesn't seem combative or judgmental, but I'm interested in what you re trying to achieve. If you simply want to belong to a high level guild, there are already plenty of choices, some very good. When you start with "I have a guild", it make me think you not only want a high level guild but you want to be the leader of it. Yet you're unhappy because every good player you attract leaves when they figure out that you aren't high level. Actually, it makes sense. Why would level 85 (for example) players want to be lowbies in a guild led by a player way beneath them?

Alternatively, you want to quickly build a high level guild from scratch. Thing is, its kind of like amassing a real fortune in life. Leaving aside the occasional Gates or Jobs, most rich people get that way through one of two routes - being related to it or building it the hard way over time. No offense, but you're asking how to be the WOW Bill Gates.

If your goal is as I suspect, to be the LEADER of a high level guild I see only two realistic ways: 1) Form a new guild with several low level members and everybody work their tails off gaining experience, or 2) Be the guild, level your toon, then start a new alt, level him/her and meanwhile do whatever you can to attract new members and help them level more rapidly.

Also, it's nice to have a rank set up without guild bank access in case someone gets hacked. You can demote a person to a point they can't harm the guild any further, report it to blizzard, and promote them back once they regain control of their account.

isn't there a guild function that restricts that rank to only members with authenticators?

my guild's "Officer" rank is restricted in that way.
the only rank that isn't is the lowest beginner rank, and it doesn't have bank access.

this way, there's less risk (not "no risk", but less) of an authenticated account getting hacked, and thus having an impact on the guild bank.
