Farming for Tran$mog itemsFollow

I notice that in RAW's Hyjal thread, a couple of people have mentioned the value that transmog has added to certain drops. Rather than highjack RAW's thread, I thought I'd +1 ask what lower level items are now selling for ridiculous amounts on your server because of their model. Certainly, some things such as the First Mate's Hat have always been popular, but what are some other things that might be worth farming?

Some of the items are "tough" ie ... ok not the best example, but I can't think of a BoE item with a similar look, I know there's a blue item that drops in Scarlet monastery Scholomance that might have a similar look but I got the name of this one in my head Item 1 that looks downright awesome on my female characters when paired with the Matching item but it's just another pair of pants and shirt on a male character.

Ahh thanks wowhead for being a life-saver :P
Similar Item but is BoE.... again they look hot on the female toons but... just another pair of pants on the guys.

There's an epic dress that drops from Vanilla content...

The only one like it in the game... very skimpy on a female, yellow dress, almost looks like she's naked wearing it..

I saw one in the AH for 25k gold. lol.

Also, take a look at Rare and Epic Shields... especially the Skullflame Shield is one that you see floating about often for ridiculous prices.

Also, some BC weapons, since some weapons actually looked awesome back then.

I believe Lyrailis to be meaning Awesome dress
which is BoE, there are 3 similar models that are BoP... at least they are referenced, not sure if they are "no longer available to players" but I may have to go run Zul'Farak some more... saw it referenced a lot in the drop table anyway.

Idrownfish that's one of the BoP versions of it, not good for farming for transmog SALES but certainly an option if you want the template for transmog purposes and sell the BoE one for mad money.

I remember when my Priest had the Robes of Insight. Brings back memories.

Also, I'm pretty sure there's a craftable plate armor set out there that resembles a metal bikini and panties. Forgot the name of it, but it was quite common back in the days.

Edit: It might also be worth looking into the BOE harnesses in the game. Warning: Some of them look downright nasty on a male Night Elf. Brings back memories of my Village People Druid.

I'm not sure items from rare mobs exactly qualify as a steady farm... but I've sold a couple head pieces from Collidus in Shadowmoon Valley.

BoE monocle (without being engineer only!) plus an easy sales pitch in trade chat helps for a quick sale.

I sold for an easy double digit profit, I frankly have no idea how high I could've tried charging and still sold em. Probably someone would've paid more. Why is probably another story altogether, lol.

I think that a lot of people are doing their transmog farming in dungeons or raids for the bop drops. Most of the boe drops that people seem to be using for transmogging are miscellaneous greens ranging from 10 to 70 so I suppose farming any place in old world or Outland that drops a lot of greens would work though there's a lot of really ugly stuff too so you'd have to look at stuff on Wowhead before pricing it. (Of course there are people going for ugly stuff too.) Wowhead does have a nice transmog guide that lets you look over all of the item 'sets' available (set meaning an actual set or items with the same suffix or recolors of sets).

Some of the boe blue weapons sell for a fair amount if they have a distinctive appearance. I even received an "I love you" mail from someone thanking me for putting a Valanos Longbow in the AH that they'd been looking for. There isn't any reliable way to farm these things though other than just kill a lot of stuff in the right level range. Level 70 boes do seem to tend to show up a lot in the BC heroics though.

Oh - and regards to the 'awesome dress' linked above - There are four bop versions that I know of in the colors yellow, pink, blue and green (though the green and the yellow look very similar) and they all drop from various bosses in the two AQ raids. I have the yellow one on my female Troll Warrior but she can't use it for transmog of course because she can only transmog plate.

I didn't realize that the end of keys meant that the atonement for TBC heroics are now gone.

So - I took my Tankadin in and could pretty much 3-5 pull every instance. (In fact, in many places the number of mobs was more limited by the ease of looting - rather than the risk of pulling too many.)

The $ was decent. The time was minimal. And I got a cool xmog item. http://us.battle.net/wow/en/item/32082

Battleforge Mail (and the BC-era replica) have been among the best re-selling items I've come across. Really any green from vanilla/BC gets ctrl-clicked, and if it's skimpy it goes up on the AH for 10x-20x what I'd normally sell it for.

If you link to the wowhead version of the item, we can actually see what you're talking about by mouse-over instead of clicking the link and waiting for it to load. The Fel Barrier. Then you can type the name of the item [.link] here [./link] so we can see what it is you're talking about.
