So, patch probably hits Tuesday.Follow

You folks excited? The troll instances are some of my favorites, partially from the flavor and partially because they're outdoors. Back in the day this meant that not only could I finally use Druid CC (Roots) but they felt so much less claustrophobic than other instances like Blackrock * or Auchindoun. ZG looks like some interesting changes and ZA's gonna be nice to do bear runs with my core guildies (small guild, getting more than 7-8 competent people on a raid night's still a mite difficult). Now we just need a glyph to turn the Druid bear form into the Amani Warbear. Ride-able, of course.

As for the mechanics changes, making valor points awarded for 7 randoms/week instead of 1/day's gonna be nice, make me feel a bit better for helping guildies do gear runs after the first one in a day. Guild challenges will help that too. Call to Arms probably won't see much use from me (I like my friends) but it should do more good than harm. Though I'm gonna get sick of dps giving me a hard time when they don't notice the other folks with the same guild name I'm tankin' for.

And of course ferals are getting nothin' but love this patch. Not a lot of it, but slightly better bear AoE, Savage Defense boost and Enrage becomes useful, while kitties double their swipe damage. I still laugh at the knuckleheads whining about the loss of threat modifiers without noting that the abilities get boosted damage to compensate.

The entire list of changes is rather long so I'll link it here instead of quoting the whole thing.

While I'm thrilled with new content in 4.1, even if recycled, I have to say that I for one will miss the old versions of ZA & ZG. Of course, in a perfect MMO world I'd prefer every level of content to be relevant .. oh well :(

The new weekly "dailies" change will be nice, so as that I can focus/grind on one alt on a given day, rather than hopping alts to each get their daily in that day.

Although I'm not huge on PvP, I think the Honor/Justice/Conquest point purchasing/trading will be a welcome addition, particularly for those that are more casual pvpers.

Guild Finder ... another nice addition, even if I personally don't intend to use/need it.

Class changes I'm never informed on to understand half the things Blizz does. Although the shaman Earthquake change (2s cast/10s duration instead of channeled, but -40% dmg?! /boggle)

It takes 75% less time to cast but only takes a 40% damage hit. I'd say that's more than fair considering the other spells you can cast in the 6 extra seconds.

Not altogether thrilled about the solo survivability of my class being absolutely gutted with no compensation whatsoever at all, but meh.

Whatever.

I've already gotten used to being "Prot or die" when soloing.

Yeah... not looking forward to the starsurge nerf (which I still think is stupid) but other than that I'm looking forward to the patch. I've been slacking on leveling my mage's tailoring and enchanting, mostly because I've been waiting for maelstrom crystals to become more available.

Druid changes are nice, but I'm waiting for the "Bear AOE is OP" that'll send us into another 4-month loop of fail.

Discipline gets some love. Cool, it needed it.

Holy is pretty much being turned into the Healing Warriors. They might as well make Chakras all out stances now, instead of stances with a cooldown. Or at least give us something to replace State of Mind. Nobody would miss it.

Shadow really had only one problem: AoE. They're fixing that, so now we're pretty much set. There's not really any remaining issues with the spec to fix off the top of my head.

So... yeah. Um. I guess Shadow shouldn't be on the patch notes until 5.0.

Except that "Power Word: Shield duration has been reduced to 15 seconds, down from 30.". That sort of takes the excitement out of it. They are pushing shield toward the reactive camp, for anyone other than the tank. I'll adjust.

I'm looking forward to being OP before they nerf SD. Stacking SD that doesn't break on a hit for 1 point of damage will be hawt.

Yeah, pretty much. Smiley: frown

Not really any substantive changes to Destruction Warlock. Resto Druid got a few good tweaks, which should iron out some annoying things about them. My Frost Mage gets Frostbolt damage increased by 10% along with a whole array of other buffs; since it was sorely needing that and all. Smiley: rolleyes

Looks like I get a net buff. Smiley: grin

Colossus Smash now ignores 50% of a hostile player's armor (PvP), but continues to ignore 100% of a non-player character's armor (PvE).

Interesting, yet another change different in PvP and PvE. It's a shame they wont design the whole game around that.

Also, I'd like to point out that I'm very happy with the potential those feral druid changes have. I have no idea how much of a boost it is, but I'm hoping it puts their AoE on par with other tanks pre thrash.

Wow, I can't tell you how much I look forward to this.

The Dungeon Finder now attempts to avoid putting damage-dealing classes with the same armor type in a group.

This is just a terrible idea. Come end game there are 3 cloth, 2 leather, 2 mail and 3 plate. Leather and mail wearers will get into groups more often since they'll be passing up on cloth and plate because there just happens to be more of those people around.

Postboxes no longer require keys to open, because really, who locks their postboxes anymore when they're all undead? It's just people sending coupons for brains anyway.

Oh...and lol.

I logged back in this weekend after 2 months Rift break. Everything seemed fun again. Looks like I am just in time for this major patch too which is cool.

I dig the troll instances and am looking forward to a t2 dungeon experience that rewards epics again. The troll plate armor will look awesome on my Tauren pally. I dug those sets back in ZA. :)

Also I think the 7 per week heroic thing is brilliant. That was one of the things that always burned me out in WoW was trying to get in a heroic every day during the first teir emblem/badge/points ramp up. But on a Sat or whatever I can knock out a few np.

I jumped into a pug and tanked H SFK on sunday to get practice in for when the game starts bribing me to tank for pugs heh.

Not that it's wrong, but you are making an assumption that the ratio of classes to armor type is the same as the ratio of players that queue to armor type.

If you have 100 leather wearers and 100 cloth wearers who queue as DPS, they're going to have the same queue time.

It's also possible that Blizzard has thought of this problem and built in a solution already. It would be fairly easy to code "Keep the same armor types (DD) out of groups UNLESS the ratio of people queuing is too off balance, or UNLESS the wait time for any one DPS type is >5 minutes more than another type." Notice the notes only say the Dungeon Finder "attempts." It's just a program. It doesn't "attempt," unless it's programmed to allow exceptions to the rule.

Note that the game already has coding to deter putting members of the same class in a group (not sure if it's same class as DPS or overall, but the need for tanks/healers usually overwrites it). This will just expand "same class" to "same armor type."
