EDIT: Oh **** wrong forum.

So, our long time guild leader and raid leader sprung up on the officers that he had applied to another guild and could be leaving us on Monday. He ended up being accepted to the guild and left us yesterday (Tuesday). Through all of this I was given guild leader.

Now, a back story. Originally coming into Cataclysm we were supposed to be strictly a 10 man guild. When our other guy took over he kind of turned us into a 25 man, at the expense of some of the officers not wanting to do that, the others just wanted to raid and accepted it.

Now that he left, I held a guild meeting last night and explained to everyone that we were going to go back to 10 mans and that the core of us had created our own group. We gave the recruits the opportunity to create their own 10 man if they wished or they could pursue other options. A majority of them of course left the guild. Some have stayed for the time being but will probably leave once they find another option.

Here is the kicker. It seems our core group might need some extra people, subs and what not to be able to support the new group. I could ask if the people that stayed wanted to stay and sub, but the problem is they are all dps with no tanks/healers. There are a few dps that would be willing to sit for some of them but I believe we are more in need of a tank.

So, what should I do? Should I look to recruit some people that are casual/don't mind sitting if needed, or see if the people we have would be willing to stay and potentially sub? I'm hoping with this new group we can maybe find a better raid time to help some that can't always make it. But I also know a few that might rather say heal than tank, or dps than heal.

I don't see anything wrong with both options. Give the people who were part of the guild already the first chance to stay as subs and go to recruiting new members after. Just be upfront with the people you are talking to about being subs. Be clear ahead of time that they are coming on as subs and you can't make any promises about when and how often they will get to raid. I made it on to the roster of my current guild as a sub, but when I finally got a chance to show myself I earned a solid spot on the team.
