Not everything needs to be communicated via video with annoying soundtrack. Every one of them can be summed up with a map and an arrow, maybe a bit of text about what's around and pros/cons. For example the skinning spot in Hyjal is great if you're skinning other people's kills, but when that dies off the number of scraps makes the income rate slow down greatly. Tol'Vir has the greatest leather rate but if you assume 3 minutes a repeat it locks out after 15.

The videos are just annoying ******* with no information. The guides on your site itself are much better and I don't understand why you chose not to link those.

Minimalist UI with HUEG LIEK XBOX HUEG chat frame is win.

That's not even close to a minimalist ui, and that chat frame is effing massive.

As for farming skins, I didn't look at all the videos because that would be annoying, but even just in twilight highlands the area where you can find karoma is probably much better, groups of deer and worgs, AoE farming over just killing individually, hell if you want to kill one by one you can technically "farm" anywhere. Good spots to farm are where there are a lot of mobs to kill together such as the rhinos in BT and the Mammoths in SP.

Depends on how you define minimalism. I know you and Theo, and probably some other players as well, like to roll with the "everything is gone" setup, but that's not necessarily the standard definition of a minimalist UI.

If my room held only a bed and a chair, some people would call it minimalistic. You can still remove the bed and chair, though.

This. While I found the information good, I can't stand to watch any of the videos outside of the one with the Paramore song anything longer than a few seconds.

Wow why not just turn off your sound while watching? The point of the video would be to see him farm for a time yourself so you can better judge how good it is compared to your own spot and playstyle without going there your self and wasting time. Will check the videos out fully in a bit internet being slow to load everything at the moment.

If any of the info is useful then I think the appropriate way to encourage more sharing by people who might not be up to the incredibly high standards of the posters here is to simply focus on the good and then provide some constructive criticism about the bad, otherwise they might as well change the name of these forums from ZAM to Elitist Jerks II.

In that vain, along with "it's the thought that counts" I rated him up.

Rusttle, if this was EJ2 you would have been banned ages ago, luckily for you ZAM doesn't find stupidity to be a valid reason for a ban.

The definition of a minimalistic UI is a UI that displays everything the user considers necessary with as little screen real estate used and without clutter. The videos in the OP have a whole load of buttons, different skins and borders that are frankly a waste of space.
Also, his UI has Xperl with portraits, that's a huge sin against minimalism.

Edit: as far as the bedroom example goes, with just the bare essentials it's minimalistic, without those it's just empty.

I like helpful people, but I like to know them well enough to know that I can trust their help. With the constant flow of one post hopefuls, all I really know is that those links have uncertain provenance and intent.

Youtube and youtube links have been used to spread malware before. Semi-random assortments of letters and numbers are common among the one post link spammers. Some of those spammers are just trying to build hits for their site, some may have less honest intentions.

What they have in common is that they are drive-by posters and constructive criticism (or the most scorching condemnations for that matter) are moot. That person is unlikely to read any response, they've spammed and moved on. Those who don't usually reply quickly enough that it appears they are watching for feedback.

Even if the video is clean, here is a guy who wants to help people farm and then he dangles additional links (who knows what those may eventually link to). Nope, I'm old and cynical. I have visions of someone dutifully farming away and then wondering how their account got hacked. [Yeah, I know, there are authenticators, but there is no point in testing them with sloppy browsing habits.]

tl;dr ... I'll save constructive criticism for someone who actually interacts with the forum they are posting their links in.

As others have said, it's far, far easier to just post a map with a circled spot and maybe a screenshot if the place is hard to find (i.e. a cave or something).

A youtube video isn't really necessary.

Also, I second Aethien in the notion that you would be banned within five posts on EJ for posting stupid ****. Be thankful that this isn't EJ2.

Personally, I think it's far easier to farm embersilk (at least as horde) by going to where the Wildhammer Dwarves are (the areas the Dragonmaw dailies are located)

1. Down a Treasure Finding Potion
2. Stay near the Horde NPCs
3. AoE the mobs
4. Loot bodies
5. Profit!

The dwarves spawn fairly quickly, and the NPCs assist you in the fights. Every cycle of mobs I get 7-8 kills and usually get a chest every other cycle. I average about 30-40 cloth an hour doing this + volatiles and other drops, which to me isn't bad.

The thing that keeps bugging me is there area 2 different styles of buttons. The spells are in circles and the totem bar and the interface menu thingy are squares. Geometric diversity is bad.

Does anyone else have the strange feeling that a lot of the 'new group' of number named posters are either the same person or they previously know each other?

Or is that the strange hippie paranoia?

It doesn't have to be hippie paranoia. It could just be plain ol' "A UFO crashed in my state in the forties and now I'm understandably nervous about things" paranoia.
