Derailed, Maz won't share His **** and BeerFollow

#1 Nov 02 2010 at 12:30 PM Rating: Decent
A nasty one backdoor_w32_hupigon I am told.

I went to start WoW normally, from the desktop launcher icon, when I got the warning from my Norton virus protection. I cannot even start WoW because it doesn't seem to think the desktp icon is linked to the main WoW game file, which it is, and have tired to correct. It suggested to run repaiar, which sent Norton's program into a frenzy again.

I am currently running some free programs to search out the particular virus, however, none the less, I cannot use my WoW launcher to even start the game, much less repair it. What do you guys know of this particular program, other than it being a keylogging virus?

I did a simple google to find this .

This is the Backdoor:W32/Hupigon Family Description.

Hupigon variants are backdoor programs, which provide an attacker with access to, and control of, an infected machine. There are a large number of variants in the Hupigon family.

The backdoor's file is a PE executable. The file may be packed with UPX. Unpacked, the code size is 710kB. It is very rare for a Hupigon variant to be smaller than 299kB.

Hupigons are written with Borland Delphi.

So it is not a keylogger as such.

Hupigon variants have several different types of features. The following list is an example of some:

• It allows others to access the computer
• Allows for recording with the user's webcam
• Can make the user's computer to attack various servers
• Send victim's computer messages
• Has rootkit functionality so it has a stealth component that hides files
• Create logs from keystrokes, steals passwords, and sends this information to remote servers

and the really relevant part of the info.

Hupigon doesn't have any automatic mechanisms to spread itself. It must be sent by its author via e-mail, through a website, or even via Instant Messengers (IM) such as Yahoo, MSN, ICQ, and Skype.

I found info here.
http://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/backdoor_w32_hupigon.shtml

Seems to be a removal tool here but cannot tell as i use a mac.

http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-backdoor-win32-hupigon.html

Good luck on sorting it out.

I cannot explain how I got it in this computer for the life of me, as this computer's function is to play wow, and to vist here Zam, and curse.com for addon updates. I have anothe computer, also running wow, its fine.. but still. Log out this one, and log back in.. and bam.. keylogger from hell.

Weird, I always give my webcam the goat before I walk away from it. Just in case someone that shouldn't be watching is.

O.o that's pretty creepy that some one would want the ability to turn on peoples web cams. I would probably be disgusted at what I saw. But I'm sure the people who create these viruses probably get off on them.

The recent thread "I've Been Robbed" had good recommendations. Here are some free Scanners that you may want to check out.

Why are people getting all these viruses? Maybe I'm just living in happy ignorance and some Chinaman is selling my junk right now, but I've not had a virus warning pop up in a year or so. Running Chrome as my browser, keeping Windows updated, as well as running Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.

What are you people sticking your stuff in to get all that crap?

Less savoury?

Here, I thought most people found that kind of stuff to be quite savoury/delicious/etc. *shrug* Depends on the quality, I suppose.

Darn it Maz, it is hard to get good Danish **** through the Great Firewall. I have to have something to watch when Alla is slow; besides, I've posted your pics on QQ and I'm making decent money offering to introduce you. You've got to get a new couch though, that one just doesn't work in the pictures.

Does the goat you're referring to have anything to do with the movie "Waiting" by any chance?

Do the Danes make lots of great ****? I don't think I've seen any (other than my Danish girlfriend when we do our thing). The Americans and Eastern Europeans seem to be fairly active in making the stuff. How 'bout you share some stuff from the good people in the north, huh, Maz?

Not a lot that I know of. All I find are web pics of this guy and... hey, wait a minute!

The words of someone posting from a land where the ideal of beauty does not make *Belfs look a bit plump and the word for "eyeballs" is distinguished from the name of the local beer by more than a tone. *[Obligatory WoW reference]

Work with me here! I'm holding out for beer and ****. Bun-Bun is fascinated by blonds and redheads, and the local beer has all the kick of Lone Star Light.

What's with all the hating on me and my nationality, guys? You want my ****, but not my beer? Get your own **** then. You're not worthy of my **** if you don't want my beer.

And no, you can't have my beer!

I never said anything bad about your nationality and, for the record, Carlsberg is very nice.

... Now, give me that ****.
