The GF and I were bored one day.
Should have just had some sex and spared yourself the grief ;D
Sex is a passing thing. Being corpse-camped senseless after a level 80 ganked you up, down and sideways in Stranglethorn Vale for the first time... now that one you will cherish forever.
And by cherish I mean bottle up deep inside until you one day finally snap, either while accidentally stumbling across a low level in Stranglethorn Vale, having had the roles reversed all of a sudden, or when someone starts spouting sh*t in a random dungeon and leaves for no apparent reason - that guy also being the tank you waited 20 minutes in queue for - prompting you to fly off the handle with remarks like 'I am going to crack open a can of F*CK YOU UP on the next one who leaves' while mashing the keys so hard that your keyboard starts whimpering, begging you to stop hurting it...
Except... it's not the keyboard. It's your daughter. She's standing next to you with pajamas on, hugging her favorite teddy bear like she's afraid of losing it, or as if she's trying to shield herself against something. You look at the big, teary eyes and glance over at your estranged wife who is standing in the doorway, sobbing slightly.
Turning the chair towards your daughter, giving the monitor one last glance, you ask your baby girl 'What, sweety? What did you say?' and she repeats the question you so easily overheard: 'Daddy, are you mad at mommy and me?'
And that's when it hits you like a truck loaded with bricks. The last six years of your life flash by, uncovered in all their naked reality as the bottled-up anger has been let out. You see yourself yelling at your wife over dinner due to her "wanting to be carried through content". You see yourself neglecting appointments due to "pwning some nubs" and you see yourself too busy delivering virtual hate onto a random stranger to say good night to your daughter. Your daughter whom you barely know, having spent more time in the game than in her life.
Right then and there, you realize that that single moment back in Stranglethorn Vale never really left you. You thought it didn't matter. You thought you were tough enough to stick it out. Too late you now realize that there is no escaping that single crucial moment. There is no running from the truth. No matter how deep down you bury it, it will eventually come back, and the deeper you bury it, the more momentum it has.
So you open your teary eyes and look at your baby girl, and you say you're sorry. Sorry for not listening when she asks you a question. Sorry for not saying good night to her. Sorry for not being a good dad. With a broken heart and embracing your kid, you get up and walk to your crying wife. You hug her and tell her that you love her and that you're so sorry for not having been there for her. She cries on your shoulder as you slowly turn about. Pushing her head from your shoulder you look her deeply in those big, beautiful eyes and brush away a loose strand of hair. How could you ever have given up all of this? You kiss her gently, thinking back to that terrible moment that caused all of this. That moment where your character was killed by a level 80 in Stranglethorn Vale by the same guy who... who...
WHO JUST AFK-GANKED YOUR CHARACTER AGAIN!
NEEEEEEEERDRAAAAAAAAGE! Um... yeah, go with the sex.
Bah, 5 AM and I can barely see the letters... sorry for the rambling. Edited, Apr 28th 2010 4:56am by Mazra
