Anyone know an up-to-date gem finder?Follow

#1 Sep 27 2009 at 9:47 AM Rating: Good
The "gem finder" I speak of is something like what you see at http://www.wow-gem.com/gems.aspx only updated.

The last time the author of that site updated was back in Jan. 2009... and while it is still a great resource for certain gems it is no longer applicable for people looking for the higher stat gems.

What I am needing is the ability to search for a specific color and stat.. or something close to that.

Anyone have a site they know of? ...or is my only option now is to search jewelcrafters' links and this and other sites databases?

Thanks.

I know it's not ideal, but you can either use AtlasLoot or you can visit the guy who sells the epic gem patterns in Dalaran and browse those (they're mostly sorted by gem type, so as long as you know the uncut gem type or can figure it out, it's not too hard to find).

For convenience, however, I'd say AtlasLoot is a decent option. You can filter by color of gem and go from there.

Wowhead can do exactly that.

I used purple gems with strength as example, but you can of course create any filter you want.
Like level 80 epic green gems with Mp5.

Edit: you can also filter on "fits a gem slot" and pick a colour behind that.

The site you're posting on has more than just forums

http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/gem.html?color=meta
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/gem.html?color=red
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/gem.html?color=yellow
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/gem.html?color=blue

Right from the menu below the sitename.. items...gems pick your color - only lists red yellow and blue but when you look at the link it shows all gems counting as red including red yellow (orange) red blue (purple)

Has the gemname, and the stats it provides listed on the right of the table

And if you use the table paired with the "Find" feature of your browser for the stat you want, you can move through all the agility gems etc.

Granted I don't know how up to date it is as I haven't been playing enough lately to look for better gems for my gear.

Based on the post below mine... yes you can do just that too
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/itemadvsearch.html
scroll down the left to gems, find the color(s?) you want to look for, on the right select what stats you require on the gem, done

Not sure what else you want this site to do. You can choose whatever color gem you want and filter everything easily. I never have any trouble using it.

Well... it would be nice if Darq would come over and hang out, but I think the wife might get upset.

And about the site's item search... it does everything I need for it to do, but my confusion was along the lines of me not knowing what color of gem I wanted. I knew the stat(s), but not the color.

After messing with it I figured out if you dont highlight any certain color of gem but instead highlight the category "gem" it will give me what gems that has the stat(s) I want... regardless of color.

Also, I just updated my Atlasloot from like 2007 today, and I didn't know it had the gem stuff in it.

I messed with WoWHead's search and I can't figure out how to search for any gem stat regardless of color... unless choosing prismatic will do that, but it doesn't seem to...

Thanks for all of the great answers.

Ahh... I just figured it out. Open up the Gem filter and then just hit clear filter above the gem box. It will still have the gem filter but it wont be any certain color... then apply filter.

Voila!

I feel Smiley: drunk. (no smiley for [:stupid:])

Ok just looked at wowhead it seems like you can just press clear on the button over color. If you do this it will search for gems of all colors then you can simply put the stats you want in just like you would for searching any other item.

I use Wowwiki when I'm looking for a certain combination of stats on a gem. There is a chart that cross-references stats for each color. Very helpful.

I was wondering when/if anyone would mention that page. The chart is fairly new, but for Northrend gems at least, it's one-stop shopping for all the information I've ever tried to look up. In particular, looking up the primary color for a stat (or all the stats that go with a given primary color), finding the name of a particular stat/stat combo gem, or getting the exact stats for a gem of any quality - all are simple and obvious.

It may not be on this site, but it's real well thought-out, especially for wowwiki.

It must have been updated since you posted because I can find all WotLK gems including the new epic ones.

Weird. Either I was blind and didn't see any Cardinal Rubies (rubys?) the other day or it has been updated.

Thanks for letting me know either way!
