Meh, to each their own. MazzleUI is (IMO) a good way to introduce players to UI customizing and techniques, but it's bloated and the same information could VERY easily be displayed with less impact on the PC and let you see far more of the game. The portraits, the unnecessarily tall health bars, the (frankly) far oversized bottom panel, the KTM... I could definitely see myself using it when I was new to the game and not wanting to branch out and try other things, but Mazzle leaves little room for slowly adapting the UI: very few of the parts could actually be used in a different UI (or, indeed, WOULD actually be used), so there's no way to (say) slowly tweak PitBull over time as your needs adapt.

Thanks for the cue, as well, though I Fear I may have an angry Theo on my back soon for taking his spotlight (geddit? Fear? Oh, never mind)

MazzleUI is a looks over efficiency compilation, no doubt about it. I prefer it that way. I'm from back when we didn't have addons yet so I prefer UIs that stay somewhat true to the original. Never really cared all that much about performance and efficiency. Still managed to enjoy the game for four years and some.

That is a mighty strong font you have there.

I would suggest changing the alignment of SLDataText to the right, so that things hug the side of the minimap and the rag is to the left. Just make sure to give the friend/guild lists enough of a buffer so they do not overlap.

The SLData loves to move around on me when I'm in windowed mode, so I've given up on the alignment. As far as the Guild/Friends, there isn't enough in my guild (it's my own, with my alts and my son's characters) and none of my friends are on anymore.

But I will look back into the alignment problems, thanks for the suggestions.

My UI consists of all the default actionbars with any mods I might need carelessly bolted on with a total disregard for userfriendlyness and aesthetics. I know where all my buttons are, I see no reason for anyone else to be able to use it :P

Okay. Got one while in combat.

I'm having a hard time deciding if mine is minimalist because I don't have any fancy boxes and art around my UI, or if it's just a mess.

I use:

Bongos2
XPerl
Quartz
Kharthus Hunter Timers
Scrolling Combat Text
Deadly Boss Mods
Recount and Omen
FuBar- with performance, money, bag, clock, location, Quest, Guild, autoloot, whisper, Reputation, durability, ammo and Micromenu

...And a whole bunch others that you can't see

The latter.

Minimalist is something like my UI; I literally only show my minimap, buffs, and unitframes.

Updated mine to get rid of some of the action bars that are keybound and not clicked anyway and added Qbar as suggest by PsiChi to help with my daily items. I like it a lot.

Before
After

Does anyone know how to get rid of the target debuff timer in Xperl? Most times I am less concerned with how long the debuff is going to last and more concerned with how many poison stacks I have up. The counter seems to cover that info up, as you can see on the "After" pic.

My latest UI is as close to "Minimalist" as it's ever been, but it still has information I don't technically need but like to have.

Here is my latest (with free terrible jpeg compression artifacts!) and I think it's about as minimalist as I can ever get. One major thing about this UI was making it symmetrical in as many situations as possible: I'm equally into form and function, but if I can add one without detracting from the other I will. The only situation it's not symmetrical (excepting minimap/buffs) is when I'm CCing a mob with no pet out or with a pet out and no Focus.

By the way, does anyone know if there's an AddOn which will subtly display which action set in Bongos3 I'm currently on? As it is I have to mouseover it to make sure I've switched right.

EDIT: link spazzed out, fixed

Love how Life Tap takes up so much space. It's the only spell you haven't keybound or what? Smiley: lol

I personally can't work without an actionbar. Not that I'm a clicker, but I use it to see when the various spells/abilities are ready (addon which causes the buttons to flash when the cooldown is up).

It's not a button, it shows up whenever there's enough of my mana missing that Life Tapping won't waste any just to let me know.

There are actually a great many spells I haven't keybound (12) which are all hidden in various places so they don't get in the way when I'm not using them xD

Also, for what it's worth, Life Tap is bound to my NUMPAD 7 (almost all of my spells are bound over there)

Check out cooldowntimers2 which you can see in my latest update. That is the bars on the right hand side. Anything on your designated CD time frame is displayed in those bars, which are dragable, and when they are ready the icon flashes real big in the screen and says "blah is ready"

Keyboard turner? Smiley: jawdrop
Edit: Or perhaps left-handed?

Can't handle all those timer bars. They all look the same and it confuses me. I already have two frames of timer bars. One for spells I've cast and one for spells my target has cast. And sometimes I forget if Curse of Recklesness is Alt+4 or Alt+5. Wouldn't want to have to enable all sorts of things just to find out.

Oddly enough, I'm right-handed, I've just been using the NUMPAD bindings since I installed Bongos. They're all so close together compared to the default binds and easy to remember. I'm not a keyboard turner, though, I just have all my bindings in that general area (and one to each of the extra mouse buttons).

I actually have jump on NUMPAD 0.

Mouse 4: Shadow Bolt (was Corruption until Destro)
Mouse 5: Immolate
Middle Mouse: Curse of Shadows/Doom/Agony (varies on action set)
NUMPAD 0: Jump
NUMPAD 1: Trinket 1
NUMPAD 2: Trinket 2
NUMPAD 3: Fear
NUMPAD 4: Searing Pain (was Shadow Bolt)
NUMPAD 5: Drain Life
NUMPAD 6: Howl of Terror
NUMPAD 7: Life Tap
NUMPAD 8: Curse of Tongues
NUMPAD 9: Mount

Mouse debuffs double as buffs (macros) when I have a friendly target.

The Life Tap icon is just an indicator: it shows up when I'm down 1700 mana and none will be wasted if I Life Tap.

The indicator sounds nifty.

I'm assuming your keyboard is pushed to the left so you don't sit in an all too awkward position. Also, I just noticed that I do have a cooldown timer thing. The bars are right under my HUD, in between the buff/debuff timers. Appears to be the addon Hourglass I'm using.

Whadda ya know. Smiley: lol

Yeah, I sit with one hand to either side (my desk is a sort-of L shape) with my monitor in front and in between (and speakers to the sides of that).

A couple of people PMed me asking for my UI.. here it is:

Link to my UI:
http://files.filefront.com/psichi+UIzip/;10562573;/fileinfo.html

It is set for 1680x1050. If you have a different resolution, you will need to make some adjustments. Also, it is set around PvP, so there are no raid frames that show up... they are there, but if you want them you have to configure them yourself.

If you don't know how to install a UI comp, try google.

This post finally motivated me to do something about the generic UI that I've been staring at for the past 2 years. I went out and grabbed XPerl, Bartender3 and SCT and here is what I came up with.

Garemis UI

This is a hell of a lot cleaner and nicer to look at. I would like to minimize the bars that are shown, but I suffer from a severe case of CRS and need to look to see what my key bindings are. I may move the location of the SCT but other than that I like it. Not shown is Omen or Big Wigs, but mine is identical to Ebonspine's as far as graphical layout.

http://img514.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wowscrnshot061508005725rp6.jpg

I apologize for the window in the middle, that was the only one I had of my current UI layout.

AddOn's being use:

Xperl
Omen
Elkano's Buff Bars
Bongos2
Prat
FuBar
Cryolisis2
And a variety of others that I can't list off the top of my head.

I love the layout, it's the best one that I've done. What you don't see is me targeting something; the target pops up just above the right action bar; target of target to the right of that, and the target's target's target below. It's all smooth and compact....gives me everything I want.
