I just realized what this makes me think of - it's the World of Warcraft version of "Everybody's Free to Wear Sunscreen".

I love that song/book/article/all the differant things it is. ^^

The least I could do is say that you just made a kickass post.

That's the very least of what I could say for it.

Very good post.

Sometimes we need reminders like these on why we do things, and why things are the way they are.

/rateup for making me smile!

Amen! It was all good, but this was my favorite :)

Happy Holidays!

Very nicely said! GJ!

Excellent post! I wish there was some way to force everyone to read this when they log in to WoW.

Despite what some may tell you, netspeak does not make you look cool, never did. It makes you look like an uneducated moron. Your parents didn't put you through school so you could make your english teacher cry himself to sleep at night.

This one's my favorite part.

High level help is a priviledge, not a right. High levels do not owe you anything. Surprisingly enough, they do have their own finances and affairs to take care of just as you do. Should they see fit to help you, make sure it is appreciated.

On the other hand, being high level does not make you better, it does not make your opinions more valid, it does not mean anything past the fact that you have put more time into your character. If newbie questions annoy you, simply leave them be and let someone else respond to them. Everyone had to start somewhere, even you.

Those two were my favorite. I remember when I was a newbie, higher levels were always asses. Even two or three levels higher they were all like that. I remember when time we were in a dungeon group grinding and a nice staff dropped. I, a druid, needed a staff, but the person who picked it up was the leader (who was a warrior). It was pretty rare and he wanted to sell it. I asked him if I could have it and he said, "Na, a newb like you doesnt need a weapon like this." He then said if I wanted it I'd have to duel him for it. I lost since he was about 3 levels higher then me and twinked.

And also when I got to level 50 I was helping a low level druid for the aquatic form quest. After we were done he said, "Your strong, but I got a main that'll own your ***." I was like you f***ing jerkoff...

But yea, enough of my complaining. Great post. I'm thinking of doing something like this, but for straight PvP.

If a higher leved person wants X item, and say "i'll X you for it", never agree and just need it if you do.

Not to take anything away from the OP's post, but I'm surprised that it got such positive feedback. It was as if everyone was surprised and enlightened by it. Of course, I haven't played very long, so I haven't really met the people that this would apply to. None-the-less, to be as cliche as possible, "common courtesy isn't very common"

It isn't the fact that the post is groundbreaking the point is that many people either obviously don't know this or just choose to ignore what it takes to be a decent player in a MMORPG and reminding them never hurts.

I would rate you up if I could :P this post is very nice. About the only thing I'll disagree with is that, more often than not, PUG's are indeed quite horrible.

It's on the OBoards, you're famous! Smiley: bowdown

Great post!

Of course, the o-boards are up to the task of completely flaming anything and everything.

I especially like the self-admitted "Non-Conformist"... I'm not sure why, but I chuckle a little inside as I imagine their faces conforming to the back of my hand. "I'm going to intentionally do something that is the complete opposite of that which the majority of people are doing... or, if I happen to be doing the same as the majority, I came up with it first and everyone is copying me" I hate those idiots. There should be a rule against them. See if you can hook that up for me ;p

Otherwise, all I have to add is...

Anti-conformist would be more accurate. Kinda like Maddox sometimes...

(no I don't hate the guy, just that he's kinda hit and miss with me)

Strikes a nice chord and you obviously know the game.

The trouble is that pretty much all of what you say is automatic to...

...a mature player who is not a total ****.

The people who are getting under your skin in this game are either very young or act like they are. It's hard to get away from them, I admit. But I've found that:

1) Not taking pickup groups
2) Joining a guild with an age requirement
3) Leaving LFG (now not an issue)

etc.

can completely mitigate against these players.

Nevertheless, you offer great advice to the underage player without seeming particularly patronising. Rate.

Posting in a legendary thread.
Someone should make an audio book out of this and make WoW play it before every login. *Dream*
