Tinfoil Conspiracy Cap: Reduced PvP HonorFollow

#1 Dec 12 2006 at 1:05 PM Rating: Decent
So, as most of you are aware, Blizzard turned down the honor gains by about 30% as of today and the numbers are all even.

Pre-hotfix honor gains;
WSG Flag Capture: 54
WSG Victory: 28
AB Honor 'tick': 28

Post-hotfix honor gains:
WSG Flag Capture: 40
WSG Victory: 20
AB Honor 'tick': 20

Am I the only one who thinks it's suspicious that the 'fixed' honor values, which they supposedly only evaluated after this week, are all so... even?

I'm not saying it was a bad business move on their part - Sony used to do the same thing EVERY major patch and expansion to attract customers to come back - but it is a little underhanded. Still smart, though - the easy epix attracted people to come back, then they nerf it a bit to make it less obscene.

My tinfoil conspiracy is that they saw that people were going to attain all their PvP goals with two weeks before the expansion. Seeing as most people burn out after they attain their goals Blizzard extended the grind so that people would finish up within days of the expansion.

Two weeks or four weeks, there is little difference in the long run.

The people who were going to get all the GM items before the expansion due to heavy PvP grinding, are also never going to burn out. They are the hardcore players who will always max out, and they will be there at day 1 through 10 for the BC; and hit 70 really fast.

Its the old "try to stretch the experience for the hardcores" while "not ignoring the casuals". As a casual frankly I'm hating PvP; its a gank-fest that does not suit my playing style. (also as a warlock I'm now a huge target as people seem to think we are over-powered).

Give me instances and raids and I'll be happy. Bring on the BC.

makes sense. I was almost thinking of going back for easy gear. Its still much easier than it used to be, I stopped at rank 10, couldn't keep up the pace to get better gear.

That's cause as a warlock, you really are very powerful. While I'm not going to comment on the overpowered statement, I do think that warlocks can melt face with great efficiency. Try it out some time.

Don't worry, it's true. Most locks would probably even agree.

Try speccing 41 affliction with insta cast Howl of Terror, Unstable Affliction the dispel shield (what i like to call it), Siphon Life, Amplified Curse, CoEx.

That's how many DoTs now? 5? My gawd.

If i want to dispel an affliction Lock's DoTs I have to dispel UA first. And that **** hurts.

Or spec Demonology and become unkillable with Soul Link while you run around perma fearing people while the die from your DoTs.

Then get some PvP gear and watch your damage and survivability soar.

It hurts me to see a warlock not PvPing. I would love to have a warlock to play with. And PvPing is very VERY casual now. You can do it all on your own time and not have to invest hours into it to get anything accomplished.

Even before this change you could tell you would be needing to farm honor more than tokens. Now that this is here they should bring back the Turn-in officer so you could exchange extra tokens for honor.

WSG Tabard, AB Tabard, AV Tabard, Black/Red PvP Mounts, AV Mount.

All of these cost only tokens, no honour. If you're really desperate to offload tokens these should be more than enough, especially when you consider the PvP mounts have 4 different types.

My target priorities:

1.) Rogues -stealthed or unstealthed, rogues are the biggest threat to a...rogue.
2.) Drinking mages- I cream everytime I see a mage's health go from full to 1/4 in one move ;_;)
3.) Hunters- Rogues can kick hunter's asses now, extremely hard core. So, vengance).
4.) Warlocks- Warlocks are like weaker versions of shadow priests to me (shadow priests are the hardest rogue opponents... twitch move, damage reduction, self healing, dots, slows etc etc).

Any idea what the ticks look like in AV?

20 per LT/Tower/Whatever pre-patch, 14-post-patch. No idea on the victory honor as our Battlegroup would have to have a Horde win AV at some point to test that.

That's what I figured, but I had hoped it was a few honor more(or 15 at least for the sake of evenness Smiley: wink).

Killing Drek'thar/Vanndar only gives 1 more 'tick' of honor.

I got about 1k honor of playing for 2 hours non-hardcore, I think about 30 minutes was me grinding things for money. Its not to bad 12 hours of casual grinding if I want my gloves, getting my chest and shoulders seem like a scary endevour. But its a hell of lot easier, in one week my friend who can play semi (mostly) Hardcore Got 2 peices as a hunter. I wish I had the time to play hard-core.

New school's homework amount? Not fun. Not fun at all.

I wrote down my bonus honor and decided to play a little differently as to get more HKs each AV. While the bonus honor went down, it was more than balanced by the HKs and I'm still getting about 1k an hour. Most definitely gonna have me a nifty new dagger Sunday morning.

30% more is still not that bad. It is most likely to keep people busier longer before the xpac.

I resent that, we're nothing alike.

Yha the last couple of AV's I was in last night turned into the old epic FoS battles. Which were fun for about 20 minutes then got old and I just afk'ed out.

I really wish I had a good premaid to roll AB with as it seems to still be the best honor per hour.

They'll be less "overpowered" when Mages have two Frost Novas, double bolts, and a move that OWNS people Frost Nova'd. That, and steal buffs. Ooh, Lightning Shield!

I would /lol if you could steal Ghost Wolf.

That lance doesn't seem that powerful, at best it delivers 600 dmg unbuffed. At lvl 66, that's nothing. Can anyone confirm what pifuaa said?
