About WoW Collectibles... if you were me..Follow

Hello fellow players of World of Warcraft !

I'm the happy winner of a contest, and I've been owning for 1 year now a quite rare collectible item. A "Life Size" limited edition statue / mannequin of a WoW Night Elf female drood (the one in the opening cinematic of WoW)

It's pretty cool, but well, I stopped playing WoW and I'm no more an addict ^^
And the statue is collecting dust and taking place, so I'm thinking about making an auction, or keeping it for the future, when the evil Blizzard entertainment will make me an addict again to a future extension and then I'll regret not having my statue anymore in my living room ^^

So, what would you do ? and if you were to create an auction, what would be a fair price ?

thanks in advance !

some pictures :p

not being a collector, I couldn't tell you what a fair price would be. However, aren't auctions supposed to start low and rise to the level that someone is willing to pay?

A lot depends on the number of collectors, the rarity of the item, and letting the collectors know that the item is available. If there are only a few collectors, the amount will be low. If the item is not as rare as you think, the amount will be low. If no one knows about the sale, the amount will be low.

well ^^

Thanks for your advice, I considered that the value depends of the rarety, and the number of people viewing the statue on the eventual auction inside a lost category of ebay for "action figures / others"

That is why, if I decide to sell it, I don't really want a normal auction, but a "Buy it now" with a fair price.

For the rarety, only 4 statues where distributed in France, where I'm from. It's a limited edition. For other countries I don't know ^^

Sorry if I don't send it to you for your birthday ^^ the shipping cost alone would be high, the thing is 20 Kg

I just opened the links as I was (Supposed to be) doing my coursework earlier. All I can say is: HOLY CRAP IT'S MASSIVE!

I was expecting it to be a foot tallest at the most, but life sized? That's one helluvan item you've got there. I'm sorry that I don't know how much it's worth, but I've never seen something like that before.

Oh and by th'way, congratulations on winning!Smiley: smile

I was expecting it to be the size of a table lamp at most.

hum, there might be a few of those, but that is certainly for the serious collector. I don't know if you plan on ebay, or some other method. But I would look at the cost of mailing first. I can guess what price you would get in america, but no idea in france or other parts or europe.

If you want lots of attention toward the auction, I suggest putting up flyers in some card shops and arcades with auction date and website. Plus, make some posts in the wow forums (they may delete them... but post them late at night).

Good luck.

I'd just sent my boyfriend over from England to pick it up for me. He could stare at her until I arrive. Smiley: sly

So, not many of you answered if they would have kept the statue or not

Anyway I decided not to go on ebay with it finally, cause in France it will never sell, and for U.S.A, the international shipping cost is already 400$
I think it will stay forever in the corner of the living room ^^;

So there goes the last couple of pictures of her final location :)

Oh my!

I better not let the boyfriend see that or he'd want one and we don't have the space! LoL

That is a really wonderful piece you've got there. There are many people who would buy it even knowing how much it would cost to ship. I'd be tempted myself if I had a bigger house.

This baby just reminded me of the movie "Mannequin".
