Mage or Warlock?Follow

#1 Dec 10 2006 at 6:29 AM Rating: Decent
I am going to start a new character for the alliance. I had previously had a 60 shaman of which i most enjoyed elemental spells and talents. So i want to be a caster. I would much rather do dps than heal so that means a Warlock or a Mage. I am undecided which one to be though. I want to do both pvp and pve.

What is the best class for me to choose, taking into consideration the changes that BC will make?

If you want to play an ally caster this time you better choose a gnome. Then Mage or Lock, well, I don't think it makes a lot of difference... maybe you should try a mage. Gnome race has more int then other races, so a mage is more indicated (for locks sta is better then int). The mana pool of mages is the most important of all. Locks may be funnier though...

Good choice and good game.

PS: If you really enjoyed your shammy, you might consider the choice of a Drainei Shaman... so you will be starting in a completely new area.

Are you entirely opposed to a Shadow Priest? More versatile than a mage in my humble experience.

If youre dead-set against them though, I would try a warlock because theyre currently just about the strongest class in the game ^^

Just be a Warlock, trust me on this one.

yeah i think i am edging towards a warlock. though the main thing keeping me interested in mages is the ability to teleport to major cities. i found it really annoying havin g to travel all over places for different quests and instances.

i would be a shadow priest, but i know that i will only heal if i do any pve and i didn't liek healing with my shaman.

Yes, but if you want a pony for Christmas, 'lock is the way to go. Most of the quests aren't near the major cities. Getting a free "My little pony" with flames on it's hooves makes you get to the quests faster. Besides, flames are cool. You won't find a mechano-strider with them.

If you think you will be PvPing more, go warlock, like everyone else. But I found mage to work well for anything. Still good for pvp, very little down time due to water and food (while warlock has to go grab soul shards). Sure mage has to pay for the mount, but aoe farming and selling water/portals is easy $.

I liked my mage, but might try a bloodelf warlock for xpac.

I'd say go for a mage, it's working out well for me.
