My Core2Duo Box - a question about "hot boxing"Follow

So I finally got my Core2Duo box up and running on Wednesday, right before I had to go back to work for the week. The system is decked out with a GEForce 6700, 2Gb Ram, and 2.66Ghz Core2Duo E6700 microprocessor.

When I logged onto WoW once the instalation was complete, I was amazed at how smooth and clean the game played in comparison to my out of date computer (which the wife is now using). I was further amazed when I ran two accounts of WoW simultaneously with very little difference.

Just this morning I ran these two accounts simultaneously in such a manner as to allow me to see both screens on my monitor. The gameplay was a bit harder since I everything was smaller, but it ran just as smoothly as before.

I was just wondering if I installed a second monitor, would the graphics card be taxed any farther than it was while running two smaller windows of WoW, and if so would it still run both?

Sending to a separate monitor shouldn't tax your video card any more than it already is. You should be fine.

I've got a two-monitor setup on my computer with much worse spec's than yours and it runs fine. I run one World of Warcraft on each screen, both maximized in windowed mode. The only real thing i've noticed is that the one on my second screen has a little bit higher FPS.

Yeah, it slows my computer down a little bit, but I doubt it be really noticeable on yours. Mine goes from 60 FPS if i'm playing on one screen to about 30-40 FPS each if I load up another and put it on my other screen.

I envy that computer with all my heart. I hate you. Smiley: cry

I have seen very little use of smiles lately.

if you can get it to work your rig will not have an issue. WoW has an issue with 2 monitors at the same time.

you might want to check out some of the stickies on the blizzard Tech forum before you invest in a 2nd monitor.

Thanks Singall, i'll make sure to check that out. Oh and by the way, to add insult to injury, the core2duo mainchip was a loaner chip from work, which means that the only thing I had to spend money on in order to get it was the gas to drive to Ronler achres from my appartment.

Are you trying to provoke someone with a WoW addiction who isn't afraid to kill someone to get max FPS out of my 40 man MC/AV raids? [:twitch:]
