Hunter AutoshotFollow

#1 Dec 09 2006 at 7:05 AM Rating: Decent
Blizz quote from test realm:
"Auto shot will be automatically enabled if the Hunter steps out of melee range while in combat with target."

Is anybody else having difficulty with this? After the v2.0 patch, it goes off for me without being in melee range first (or maybe I am just a little close). I often will right click on a distant target in preparation for sending in my pet, or picking a special shot to pull with. Now for example, I right clicked on the guy on the Alter of Zul from afar. While thinking of what exactly I wanted to do... Bam, autoshot is firing, pvp is on, no chance to decide now... I don't think it happens all the time, but it is annoying.

Haven't played my hunter yet with the new feature but I never like it when they automate something like that.

I'd guess they'll get enough complaints that it will be removed.

Simple solution: Don't right click on your target :)

Right clicking is the default bind for auto-attack, therefore if you are out of range of melee, you will now auto shoot. To prevent this, always left click on your target.

Not sure if there is a way to turn this off, I will have to check later today when I log on.

It works fine for me. In fact I found a macro already that will find the closest target, send my pet out to attack it, cast hunters mark then start autoshooting. As long as you are in range you will resume autoshooting. You can turn it off just like before, by clicking the autoshoot button again.

Well, as said, don't right-click! LEFT-click is the optimal, safe selection option :) It DOES happen all the time - well, it has for me - because that's how it works now. I love it, and I really like how it swaps to melee when the mob closes right in. Sometimes I end up in that "limbo" zone where the mob is too far away to melee and too close to shoot, but all in all it is a neat function.

The by-product of automatically casting Auto Shoot when out of melee range means that now right-clicking targets starts Auto Shoot. Also, the opposite is true, if you are Shooting and the target moves into melee range, you start attacking with melee.

I love this new feature. All I have to do is hit auto-attack and I'm good to go.

I always hated when you right clicked your weapons come up. That is pretty annoying. Im glad blizzard added this feature for the hunters.

i hate the auto-shoot thing since, i always right click, nearly, and has, gotten me killed multi times ><; so i think that idea blows, leave it to using a randed move or trigger auto-shoot whatever, i like the melee tho, helps time to time, such as pvp and the twink rouge wants to try to go behind u u at least hurt it

Right click is the ATTACK click.

Left click is to SELECT.

Many people even have that run click option on so we can RIGHT CLICK something, auto run to it & attack it.

STOP @#%^ING COMPLAINING ABOUT THE MOTHER@#%^ING RIGHT CLICK.

Whoa? Where did that come from, take a chill pill. People are only complaining because they arent used to change. Its not a crime.
