I made a area with 8 boxes each that had 1 class each designated in it and waited for the cow to take a dump on one of the boxes. The one it landed on was the class I chose.

Heh, my girlfriend.

Without her I would still be playing every class a level at a time. She loves her hunter, and I didn't want to miss out on her playing, and keeping her interested. So I stuck it out with Mage.

Sounds like you got some alt issues, you might be one of those unlucky fools jumping to one class or another. But you desire end game stuff, so I suppose picking something and sticking with it would be best. However I don't think there's anything I could tell you that would make you pick one. That's for you alone to figure out brotha.

its not that i have alt issues, i want a new main

and im hopping from one class to the next :P

only thing i hate is leveling, other than that just i like all the classes and hate stuff about them to, so blah

Okay, I first played FFXI, I've always loved paladins so that's what I played. I grew fond of tanking, the thrill of it kept me going.

Now, come WoW, I play a paladin to 60. While I find paladins aren't primarily tanks, I bore with it and had some good times, but my love of tanking went unanswered until finally, I dug out an old gnome warrior alt I made for kicks. Once I got the hang of the art again, Shamibell was here to stay. ^^

Ahhh...I've always loved Mages. You probably think these games were gay and after a while they were but I played mage with all of these games. Rakion, Trickster, Maplestory, Goonzu, Silkroad, and a couple of other games I don't remember titles of. Anywayz I just picked mage cuz i like the BOOM damage

I started out on the same server as my friends, we were all Alliance newbs. Reading the class descriptions here, Rogue caught my eye as it read:

DPS: highest?

Having always been playing a support role in my previous mmo (ffxi), the idea of being pure DPS really intrigued me and I thought it would be a lot of fun.

We all leveled up our allied toons, I only got to 48 and we jumped ship to the horde's side of things. I then chose a Shaman as it seemed so mysterious and cool to me. I leveled that one straight to 60 and then spent another 20+ days /played on it.

Now I'm back to my rogue. Smiley: grin

I started out with a Troll Hunter - got him to 28 and got bored.
Then I tried a human rogue - He got to 27 before I got bored again. He's still around, but I haven't played him in like forever.
I tried a gnome mage - he didn't even make it to 10.
A Warrior, same problem. My druid made it to 15 or thereabouts.

Then, one day, my wife said "I bet you couldn't play a female character convincigly", so I created Florisant, a female human warlock. The rest is history.

Since then, I've tried Priest, Shaman, and Warrior (again). The only class I haven't played is Paladin, but that doesn't hold any appeal to me.

I went with a very sophisticated and ancient system... you might know it by the common name of "Eenie, Meenie, Minie, Moe..." ;)

Seriously, when I started, I'd just come from FFXI and an abortive attempt to level as Beastmaster (this was just before the awful rape they committed on the class last year). The thing I liked the most about BST was having a little guy to fight alongside me, so when read up on all the classes, I tried out hunter first. Loved it, but got bored, and tried a bunch of other classes.

When my (now ex-) girlfriend started playing, she wanted to be on the server with all her friends, who had a small guild. When I found out that there was only one warlock in the guild, I rolled a human warlock named Reghades, and I've stuck with him for a lot longer than any other character (he's currently 53, and my previous highest level toon was mid-20s).

I've tried shaman a couple times, hunter at least 3 times now, warrior twice, rogue twice or thrice, mage once... Honestly, only classes I've not really done much with is priest, druid, and paladin...

I made the first class i thought was cool, A feirce orc warrior. I played a bit on, then I changed. Many people go through this process or not knowing what to pick, but i guess I got lucky early in the game. I picked a Night Elf Preistess as my 4 char, i thought it was quite cool to be able to heal, and shadow priest was awsome in soloing :)

But my main motivator was that there was a high demend for priest's, everyone needed a preist for their party, and I guess I was a God send, well it felt like it. I can still never forget the feeling how, after you've been instancin', people from your group PM you and say: "Dude, ur a really skilled priest" or "Your one of the best priest I've ever partied with". This just brings me joy and happiness that there are people that really appreciate what you do. So therefore I've sticked with Priest all the way and I dont think i'll change class, unless I go Hunter in TBC.

Well, thats my story.

My first character was a priest. I liked the Idea of the whole help the other guy thing. But, around lvl 15 my son was going on and on about his hunter Argonox, so Dadanox was born. My priest layed pretty much untouched for a year, but something was calling me.... Oh yeah, also played to lvl 20 all the other classes. At one point or another I've said "now this is for me" about most of them, since every class has it's strengths.

I rolled a Dwarven Hunter first because it sounded cool then rerolled a huma priest cos there was always a shortage of kickass healers and it kinda grew on me i guess

First char was a priest. I picked priest because a friend told me I'd always be in demand. What he didn't tell me was that wouldn't happen for quite some time...

Second character was a hunter, for absolutely no reason. Turned out I liked the class and have stuck with him.

If you like a bit of everything, just make a Druid.

They can be healers, nukers, DD or tanks.

Plus, playing with the forms in odd situations is always fun.

When I first started playing WoW, I was confused. But, I thought playing a mage would be the best, and that's the class I chose. I've gotten a tad bit bored of it now though, and looking to create a new toon. This time I'm even more confused than before. So I've been reading up on what the different classes have to often.
#17 Dec 09 2006 at 2:57 PM Rating: Decent
yea im confused much as well beacuse i know they all do now and their weakeness'

so as i level i always am 2nd guessing the class im playing and thinking of another :P

just need to decide how i want to play this time around maybe ;o

Well, I played every class to level 20, by that time, I got an idea of what I was dealing with. The ones that bored me, I didn't touch. The ones that did interest me, I would ask around to level 60s of that class, how they liked it, the pros and cons.

Then, I would stick with the class I picked. Sure, there are good and bad times for any class, but I think its worse to be stuck with a bunch of lvl 40s then have a level 60.

I think it really depends on what you are looking for. If you like...
DPS: Mage, Hunter, Warlock
Healing: Priest, Pally
Multi-tasking: Shaman, Druid
Tanking: Warrior

Also to consider, is the learning curve. Some people forget, that some classes are more difficult to master than others. Some like a challenge, others hate it.

I'm obsessed with ninjas, therefore I picked rogue (the ninja class). I don't regret my decision at all, as I like to think myself as one of the most *** kicking rogues there is.

Plus I love killing people so fast ;_;

I originally choose Warlock because I had been a healer in my last MMO. I needed destruction and devastation, not to mention a demon pet was very exciting.

From there I have just picked what ever interested me at the time. Like now I am a Protection Warrior because I wanted to be able to tank endgame. After my Warrior passes I plan to be a Priest because my time as a tank has revitalized my love of healers.

Personally, I take only Hybrids (Druid,Pally,Shaman) Simply because they are great Solo characters AND in group situations, Hybrids are usefull because we can heal. I like the other classes but I hate not being able to do more than one specific task and besides, Hybrids are the most interesting classes IMO.

Wanted someone able to shapeshift and had only manual to base upon. So I chose Shaman (Tauren because I wanted Tauren or Gnome from races - extremes ftw). I leveled shaman to 60, but then decided I don't like it that much and tried the other shapeshifter.
And so I became Druid for life.
#23 Dec 10 2006 at 8:28 AM Rating: Decent
IMO, the elements to consider in order to choose your classe are many :

Play mostly alone or in group ?

No life or casual ?

Easily bored at high level, not motivated by gear collecting ?

PvP or PVE addict ?

I'm a casual, I play mostly alone and I like to feel useful in a group when necessary, I like being powerful without depending on my gear, I only do PVE

and I've chosen Mage !
cause it's powerful, no need for a great gear, I can solo 2 elites at once, I'm useful in group because I can sheep and distribute water ^^
And since I'm a casual, I'll never go in a 40 people raid, never join a big guild, so purple stuff is not for me, I can't have a class that depends on it's gear like warrior, and all close combat classes.

sometime ago, when I liked Pvp, I took a full feral drood, but the feral branch was not really good, blizzard never developped it fully, and being a feral drood means no way of having enough mana and being a useful healer in group ^^ so I stopped
