Missing AddOns ButtonFollow

#1 Dec 08 2006 at 5:41 PM Rating: Decent
So, I'm trying to help a friend of mine get his new addons set up after the patch. I've got them all on my system so I know they're somewhat stable. He copied them all into the correct directory, when he restarts the game, at his character select screen, he doesn't see the button for the AddOns. So, I have him rename the WTF, WDB and Interface folders, the standard GM response, to reset the interface, still no button.

Has anyone seen this before? Or, am I missing something right in front of me? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Wouldn't he have to install the add-ons on his machine instead of just copying them over? Do the add-ons need a registry entry?

make SURE they took the folder with the files out of the folder that gets unzipped,my buddy had same problem today.
Turns out he took the folder that was made from the extraction and put it in the addons folder. The one he needed was inside it.

did he have cosmos before? I know that screwed up my UI, making it impossible for me to load addons til I did a full reinstall after wiping WoW from my system...but that was a while ago, so maybe that isn't an issue with cosmos anymore...

Nope. Addons can simply be copied from the Addons folder. I share my wow folder on the home network for just this purpose. I get the ones I like, then copy them to my other pc's. Those where you MUST do an install from an exe may be modifying more than Blizz intended. Be careful about that.
