Currently the LFG tool is severly lacking... much to my dissapointment. Smiley: frown

The thing that annoys me is that people who are not using it say it doesn't work... I can ONLY work if people use it, just like the old meeting stones (oh, and speaking of meeting stones, GREAT job on the summoning part)

LFG tool is great for when lockbox needs opening.

Blizzard should steal the FFXI comment system already, not try to build on something that didnt work in the first place.
Like meeting stones, AI that trys to make a balanced party just aint happening. And because the process is invisible (people have no indication how long its going to take) people dont use it and it just doesnt lift off.

I was able to find a LBRS group fairly quickly when I was using the LFG tools; however server crashes prevent me on being able to comment on how well composed the group was (It looked good enough with a warrior, priest, mage, hunter, and another who I'm forgeting).

My one experience has been pretty good so far, but I agree it has its problems. And yes, a PvP option would be awesome to see.

The biggest problem with the LFG tool is that it only will find people who are specifically interested in going to a certain dungeon. People who might have just said "oh hey, that group looks interesting, I'll go" when seeing people talk in the LFG channel no longer have a chance to do so.

I expect if might work better in TBC, once there's a massive amount of people all in the same areas and dungeons. However, at the moment, there's just not enough people who use it. I spent 2 hours "Looking for more" with it on Sunday for BRD, and we never got even 4 people in the group.

My wife's priest joined a group of FOUR hunters when she used the LFG tool for Uldaman. Sounds pretty balanced to me - NOT! :o)

Maybe your wife needs to learn to uncheck "auto-join". :o)

Here is my two cents on the LFG tool:

-They need to fix the bug where if you go into "Looking for More" and select a dungeon to see who is looking, it adds you to the queue. Once added to the queue, you have to log to get back out of it.
-It would be nice to have a channel that scrolls who is looking for what and their comments. You would not be able to directly post in this channel w/out using the LFG tool. Kind of a stock ticker.
-More people need to use it. If you don't like it, still use it and use the /lookingforgroup channel on your server.
-They need to remove the filter of what you can do (i.e. only show dungeons in your level range). With the old channel, many people would be playing an alt and see someone LFM for an instance their main can run and decide to go.
-Have the "auto join" option not enabled by default.

Just my thoughts.

It needs to be more specific. I can't tell u how many UD strat groups I kept finding, when I was looking for HU. But, the only option is Strat! DM is specific. This should be too.

Also, things like BRD need to broken down more. Like, jailbreak groups, windsor runs etc. BRD is huge and one generic channel isn't cutting it.

As much as I hate the spam, the LFG channel made wow seem more "active". Now it just seems so silent and boring. I have nothing to chuckle at when I'm farming. I think they need a universal channel for entertainment more than anything. People can quit the channel if they want without fear of never finding a group, with the new system.

Yeah I have disabled the autojoin as that causes havoc and instead just use "looking for more" and send tells to people that make a good fit. Also I like that it lists groups in that option (you see the leader and then click on him).
I did get hijacked and then promptly left a group with the following scenario: I (lvl45 druid) Q'd for Uldaman and was auto-joined paired with a shaman (lvl43), because he was leader we were then autojoined for Scarlet Monastery (which he had Q'd for as well) and we get added to a group of lvl37-9s. At which point I apologized to the others as was not interested and quit group. Also the summoning stones only function for people within the instance lvl range. Also a tad annoying if you want to add a helpful guildie.

I just have not had very much luck with the LFG tool at all. I managed to get one group started... then two people immediately disconnected. After that there was no one else even using it for LBRS or BRD so I just stopped using it. I have resulted to using the /who priest/warrior etc to find a group of relatively high level people that are willing to run the instance or use guildies.

I really miss the LFG channel... our server 'has one' but nobody uses it.

Can't you just select "None" to get out of the queue?

I expect that they will add massive upgrades to the current LFG system. OF what those would be im not sure.

But i sure hope that they arrange something a little more detailed. They have definately gotten a good thing started, It just needs some uprages.

Maybe they will add in a part where on the group leader they can put in what the group needs or already has, or a check box of things commonly used in the instance - LIKE for zul farruk, if someone has the mallet put in the group main, has mallet, or has BRD key, whatever!

I also feel they should add a way to browse the other groups. Not necessarily be able to join groups higher/lower through their system, but make it so people are able to see what all is about to start.

I wanna see what level 60 groups are running while im trying to level my level 50 shaman. :)

But of all those things, I personally am glad that they have changed from the channel. On my server they did start a LFG channel, its not really helping, but at least its there.

Yea u can u just click clear. at least it worked for me. as for the lookingforgroup chn our server (frostwolf) has many people using it and i hardly use the lfg tool

Unfortunately the new LFG tool can't prevent you from being joined into a lame, ineffectual PuG group.

I recently got into an LBRS group really quickly and thought "this is awesome"... Then I got summoned with the stone and thought "MAN, this new patch is GREAT!"..

Then I looked at the 60 tank who was wearing a Lightforge breastplate and using a level 36 one hander with some greens sprinkled in... and thought "uh-oh.."

I stuck with it, but after a wipe and an almost wipe and we were only three mobs in... I called it a night.

*sigh* when Blizz makes a system that can avoid "bad" PuGs I'll jumpr for joy..

The only thing I like about the new system is the meeting stones. The rest sucks. Anyone notice it's almost the same as the Meeting Stone/Inkeeper system except you can be qued for less, and can see the other's who are using it.

Sometimes the new LFG system makes an annoying clicking sound every few seconds. Drives me insane.

Can't look for regular quests, can't look for Raid quests (battle for darrowshire), can't look for pvp quests.
It has promise, but leaves alot to be desired at the moment. I also want a global chat back, never realized how lonly it gets farming rep.

The person clicking on the stone must be in the level range, but anyone in the party can click on the portal that appears. I (as a 47 mage) clicked on the ZF stone the other day and the 60 'lock that was with us clicked on the portal to summon a 51 Hunter. Not too bad. However, the person being summoned also has to be in the level range, so it's not completely leaving warlocks out in the cold as the "come here" part of the mass transit system.
