Lot of people cancel subcriptions?

I have noticed lately a lot of missing regular avatars. Wondering what's up.

a lot of people got their panties in a bunch after the merger and cancelled premium.

There's a few tinfoil hat wearers out there who are very vocal about it even though as far as I can tell there have been no ill affects yet.

Also there are alot of new posters too.

Well, I know about the merger, as that was some time ago, but I have seen about 5-6 regulars without them. jordster and Webjunky come to mind.

Funds depleted by the holidays maybe?

Or perhaps busy with finals and not thinking about it?

Alla should just host the "public" search on an p1 75 hz and give premium users access to a super fast search server. Youll see the premium users fly up, now hopefully Alla doesnt read this :P

I also think its not only tin-foil hattery that made poeple cancel subscriptions, also the fact that first it was charity and now its corporate.
Why give a corporate funded website charity?

Just purchased mine for a year, since I felt like i needed to support alla.

But what is this "merger"?

the merger was another company buying Allakhazam and several other gaming sites.

The company is the same company that owns IGE.

IGE DID NOT BUY ALLAKHAZAM THE COMPANY THAT OWNS IGE DID.

For some people that was enough of a correlation to get all tin foil hatty.

It's like Altrea, they own cigarrete companies but they also own Kraft foods.

Smiley: lol LMAO!

I'm tired, I'll show you how I can tell:

Kraft means "Force" or "Power" in Danish, just like the German word after which Mr. James L. Kraft probably was named. However, Kraft is pronounced exactly like the Danish word "Kræft" which is our local name for Cancer. Due to my tiredness I mistook the 'A' for an 'Æ', turning the harmless Kraft (Power) Foods into Kræft (Cancer) Foods.

So, Altria owns various cigarette companies and Cancer Foods. Are they trying to kill us all?

Yeah, I'm that tired.

You don't have a job?

I went to work today, had some soda, some cake, cookies, candy, free lunch and a two-hour paid break.

They gave me 800 DKK for the effort (roughly $140).

I'll be repeating the success first thing on Monday.

Job? I work at Walmart, it's not much but enough to get me by fine. However I alos have a Daughter which increases the hell outta my bills and this 3 room apt is a bit highend for a poor guy like me.

Don't stress it, Captain. If it makes you feel any better I still see the The Banana when I see your name. Smiley: grin

I dunno, when that whole thing went down (the IGE thing) I remember a ton of people freaking out and cancelling. Some of them, and I could be wrong, but I think some of them have actually renewed since then or not followed through on their threats to cancel.

TseTsuo is correct, tinfoil hattery...

The site in my opinion has yet to suffer any ill effects from the merger and thus, I still pay. Alos, I consider it backpay for the years I used Alla while playing the old EQ and didn't pay for it :)

i'll admit I was on the bandwagon at first. I didnt outright cancel but i did stop the auto-renewal. I let some time pass, things seemed ok and I missed some features so i renewed again.

Look at it this way, how many guild hosting sites are sponsored by goldselling ad's yet we all use them and no one complains.

Gotta applaud worldofwar.net though for keeping themselves goldseller ad free.

In reality i bet alla gets more revenue from banner ads than from subscriptions. just a guess though. So in reality by not renewing (if i'm right) then you are helping them even more.

oh what a tangled web we weave.
