You submit a request for a character restoration.

They may temporarily close your account, asking you to verify your identity (by filling out a form and mailing them a copy of your driver's license or passport).

They then start an investigation which can take 2 or more weeks to complete.

You can keep playing your character(s) during this period, although you will be naked.

Hopefully when it's all over, they will restore all your gear/gold just as your characters were when you left them.

keyloggers again... most likely...

you click on some linkies and zap, someone's looking at every keystroke you are doing... search these boards for Keyloggers, lots of good advice.

they will restore most of your ****, just gonna take 2 wks or more...
oh, they are not gonna restore your enchants tho...

jsut be careful of what linkies you click on...

You should be equally concerned with "how someone managed to get into your account in the first place!!!" If you have a key-logger on your computer they will just hack into your account again after you get restored and strip your toons a second time. I seriously doubt that Blizzard will be returning your items to you again if it happens fast like that.

You should start some serious searching using any software (i.e. Spybot, Adaware, and any other software someone on this site can recommend). You should also invest in some firewall software.

People I know that have been hacked have gotten almost all of their stuff back within a few weeks.

Also... be more careful about what links you click on because chances are that is how your password got stolen...

go git yourself Hijack This
do a analysis, save log and post it on another site such as

www.spywarewarrior.com

they do an analysis and let you know what's up...

or
Ctrl-Alt-Del
Task Manager
Processes

and google every single process you got goin on your computer... yes... EVERY single one...

lucky it is only the gaming info they stole... imagine if they got hold of your credit card, SSN and Home address... well, Home Address, name, and SSN will prolly open a crapload of doors for the evil minded individual.

Furthermore, do not rely on just one form of protection... remember what they told ya in High School, use Condom and SPermicide?
well, there's a world of free anti-Virus, Spy, yadda yadda yadda...

i got AVG (paid version) running all time and weekly runs with other softwares...

there's good advice about not running games or stuff under administrator. i hear this is a good advice... but i am not well versed in that field...

You have got to be kidding. Either something you did made it easy to get into your account (trusted your password to another person, made a simple password, etc) or you probably got a keylogger as discussed above. Blizz is not to blame here, and certainly doesn't want your stuff.

If you've been starting WoW.exe instead of Launcher.exe, it could be one of the causes of your account getting stolen. The WoW Launcher chacks for keyloggers and provides some degree of protection.

However, you should (like another poster said) also keep you anti-virus software up to date and run scans often. Most of the major anti-virus programs also check for keyloggers and trojans.

A piece of advice from me to you:

Please when you write to Blizzard, use a spell check. Nothing will get your request set to the side as fast as writing in the manor that you have demonstrated in your post.

I am not a spelling ****, but yours was exceptionally bad. I would hope that you are either a young teen, not an English native speaker or both. My advice to you is that you will get much better results if you double check the spelling and grammar than if your request is unintelligible.

I got hacked by a trojan called svch0st.exe. It isn't Blizzard's fault. You need to make sure your computer is cleaned up.

They restored about half my stuff. Better than nothing, but don't expect it all back. At least your characters weren't deleted. Check and make sure your professions are still there, too.

There is a web page on www.worldofwarcraft.com that tells you how to request an investigation.

I wonder how much Blizzard gets, since nobody has any problems posting their e-mail address as well... :)

I agree that Keylog Scammers are stupid, and should be thrown into jail for stealing information which is not yours, which is happening everyday i.e: taking photos of internet or copy - paste, bla ,bla..

But saying they should all get AIDS is stupid. Look at Africa, there are many references of AIDS cases, but its not the childrens fault that they got AIDS, it trasfers via blood, thus having a parent with AIDS might pass it on to their child.

I'm just saying, dont say anything that other people might find VERY offensive.

P.S, I do not have AIDS, I just want people to think before they post.

And now for something completely different.

But really all you can do is spellcheck, email blizzard using the proper procedures highlighted on the support site and wait. **** happens, and you shouldn't have placed that much faith in your computer without any security software.

Yp, I feel bad for em :(. Guess how many people died in September 11th. About 3000. Guess how many die EACH DAY from AIDS. About 6000. It's very sad in Africa because many males think that if they rape a virgin baby, it will get rid of their AIDS, and often, the child dies from either the penetration, or from gettin AIDS :(. So sad.
