Today, I popped AP and two shotted a rogue in Field Marshall gear in a duel(just testing the damage).

I'm loving the insanity. Loving it.
Mages like you make me cry Poldaran... Smiley: cry

I can't even begin to count how many hunters/warlocks/mages have just plain obliterated me since the patch... And thats when I get the drop on em...

One mage actually sheeped me, fireballed me for over 4k health, took his time to wave goodbye to me (whilst I tried to recover the distance) and killed me with some instant cast. (couldn't tell what either spell was, I was too busy picking up my jaw and dropping a rather large F bomb...)

It seems a little unbalanced to me... Usually mana is a concern, but when you can snare & down 8 people with more than enough mana left over for a couple 1v1 fights...
Just wow man, it really makes me wish I had rolled a mage instead of a rogue. ><

Other than that though, I'm having a great time with mutilate.
GM weapons here I come. Smiley: grin

Had been exalted in every BG for awhile and had the old blue PvP set I got awhile back so been pretty bored with PvP, and WoW in general. Now with this patch there's new builds and new things to learn about and counter. Playing casually, even with every BG exalted, I now have something to gain.

Yeah, I'm definitely gonna do what I can to get the GM's Mageblade as soon as I can. At 22500 honor points and 20 AB Marks(this part'll be trivial) that's only about 45 hours assuming 500 honor/hour. If I buckle down and PvP an hour and a half each weekday morning and 15 hours over each weekend, I can have it in 2 weeks. That's not too bad. 37.5 hours if I can average 600 honor an hour.

I can tough it through a few more weeks of AV for that.

Hell, if I wasn't raiding, I could expect to have it by next Tuesday night or so.

Edit: Oh, and you know what'll really roast your bacon? That 2 shot was done with frostbolts.

Does anyone think the new epic mounts are ridiculously cheap though?
I mean, 30 marks from each BG is pretty easy to pick up right? Especially if your farming honour at the same time...
Not complaining, just mentioning...

30 marks of each BG for the mount is appropriate.
First, you don't get the free riding skill with it to ride it.
Second, it's a nice way to dispose of extra marks on your quest to get lots of honor for the HWL or GM weapons.

On the subject of weapons, I'm quite confused... I play a rogue and I just got my Lobotomizer, I'm looking at the HWL weapons and I feel like buying each and every one I can use, 2 daggers, the 2 claws, the mace, the 2 swords... HELP!

My latest character, a 57 Mage, just made it to honored with AV on Monday night.

1. I really liked the ability to earn experience while I was PVPing. After 1 WSG, I have 1 mark of honor and 0 honor. Nothing happens when I get 3 marks of honor anymore, like the rep and experience I used to earn. I'm kind of disappointed in that.
2. I have a Stormpike Insignia (trinket) that apparently won't be ranking up anymore, because there is no more rep. I have the Rank 3 version... woo hoo!
3. Obviously, the PVP gear you can buy appears to be out of this world. This has me really excited.

Guess it's time to go out into the real world and get my level up to 60, so I can use all of those Epics.

daniel - qualitatively, the rank 14 1h weapons are all identical. all that really matters is preference and spec. are you a dagger fan? get the razors (or, imo, razor + fastblade or whatever its called). if youre a sword fan, get the swords. theyll provide the same result, so its really a matter of spec and whatever floats your boat. personally, as a rogue, the lobo is good, and if youre a dagger fan, id definetely get the dagger for an MH weapon, and pick up an OH weapon of your choice. since all the weapons are effectively the same, you can plan ahead a bit and grab maybe a 1h mace if you think you might like mace spec or hemo maces at a later date.

of course, nothing is stopping you from getting all of them, id just go with the ones youd use more first, and not worry about doubling up unless youre 100% certain youll see a lot of use from em. cause even with the new casual bent, itll still take awhile to get those weapons lol.

Very cool. I love the new specs.

I hear from guildies that non-shadow priests got screwed til 70, but otherwise most people I know are loving it.

I don't know, a couple of my guild's priests are speccing mostly disc and they are saying it is pretty fun and powerful, even in PvP. We've yet to go on a raid yet so I don't know how it holds up in raids yet.

Personally, I love how insane PvP is now... nice and fast paced, keep you on your toes type things. However, it just seems to me that even though I like the new system blizzard screwed up some. They gave us these uber powerful classes and spells and such, and yet didn't give us the new gear to counter them in PvP. Remember in TBC seeing like 10k HP is supposed to be pretty common. That can stand up and actually let the person have a chance (small maybe) to survive and turn the tide. Or at least DO something before dieing in one or two hits... which blizzard has said is NOT the way they want PvP to be. Which is EXACTLY what we have now, only even WORSE then before. I have to wonder at blizzard's thinking on that.

Again though, even saying all that, i'm loving the patch and new PvP stuff. Well besides the bugs and such which are normal for each patch.

I managed to kill 2 different frost mages in duels on the same day on my warrior, which i don't think has ever occurred in my entire playtime.

ENRAGE IS DEAD, LONG LIVE SECOND WIND!

I didn't get time to play in the bgs yesterday, went to watch the new bond movie instead (rocks incidently) but i've got a long lazy day to fill in with AB games today.

Looking forward to it.

I'm curious about this. I played AV and some AB the other night, finally got a tally under the actual HONOR part and I had ~2000 Honor. I had only played for about 1.5 hours. At that rate I could be getting a nice GM weapon in about 15-18 hours of PvP.

Anyone else have estimates on honor/hour under the new system?

Oh emm gee. Smiley: cry
How come +5 melee dmg is "epic" quality when 70+ spell dmg is considered the same?! (Well besides the obvious reason of god hating me. lol)

For a mix of AB and AV I'd say 500 honor points per hour is about right give or take a little bit.

If you throw WSG into the mix, without having a premade... On my server at least, that number would drop significantly. (stupid plow 0-3 losses give 0 bonus honor. /sadface)

How are all you PvP'ers out there enjoying the new patch?

Likewise.

  • Mage and Warlocks are WAY overpowered now! YAY I guess ...

  • I was actually able to kill shamans, warlocks, mages, and shadow priests with my MM specced hunter last night. I could practially see the looks on the faces of the locks and shamans when they found out "WTF! What happened to my IWIN button against non-BM hunters?"

    Silencing shot FTW Smiley: lol

The hunter PVP flow is MUCH nicer now. Being able to do actual damage while kiting is going to help a lot. I used to use aimed shot nearly every fight, which was tough because you have to hold still. Now I can kite, use arcane and multi and serpent sting, and with talents shoot every 5-ish seconds. It's a lot smoother than it was before.

I like the new trap mechanics, too. Being able to use them once for 12 seconds is more than enough, and you don't have to hold still to spam your FD+trap macro anymore, you can drop them on the fly (although they take a second or two to "arm"). Plus, the opposing player doesn't lose their target any more, which is a little more "fair" to them. Overall I didn't think I was going to like this change, but it turns out I like it better than the old system.

I think the entire new system rocks. We've got interest in PVP again in TFS. Being able to get the rewards without selling my soul to WoW is going to rock. If I could get my Rank 14 XBow I'd be a happy happy hunter.

And I like how they made it a REQUIREMENT to run something other than WSG over and over and over and over and over again to get gear. Previously it was just WSG roll-teams that ran WSG and won once every 10-11 minutes and that was how you got to Rank 14. Now those teams actually have to be balanced in all different BG's and succeed in them (including AV, where you have to slug it out).

EDIT: OH! I almost forgot my OTHER favorite part of my build: Rapid killing. It's totally insane in BG's. It procs so often, one out of every 3 or 4 arcane or aimed shots was getting +20% damage, and my arcane shot was critting so often that a few times I got over 1400 damage from them. Wow. Just.... wow.
