What's the deal with add-onsFollow

I have seen comments that make me think add-ons are perfectly legal, and I have also seen comments that make me think add-ons violate the EULA. Are they just frowned upon or can you get your account suspended for using them?

Also, I had a macro set up that would cast Feed Pet on a certain inventory slot in a certain bag. After the patch, it no longer works. Can someone please show me how to set this up?

Peace

Addons are still perfectly ok. CTraid and Necrosis and any utility is usable. The code has been changed to effect mods like decursive and panza heal. Those type of mods are no longer working and are not on the ok list of things to use.

Anything that picks the target and rank of spell for you isnt going to work. Example:

Panza heal used a system that used the best heal rank on the target that needed healing the most. you could heal a 5man/raid with 1 button. you could set it to downrank to save mana and take advantage of your +healing gear.

Decursive, used to auto cleanse/decurse/remove poison any target that was afflicted by it. wont work now. Those type of mods are what blizzard considers bad.

Things like Fubar and Titan are ok. Your UI that makes the game look how you want it to look, are ok.

Pretty much anything that picks the target for you and makes a choice on what spell to cast for you isnt allowed anymore.

If I'm not mistaken, addons are written in the same code you write macros for.

So yea, addons are legal. Just be wary of using addons that require an executable file to install. Look for ones that just involve copy/pasting a folder into your /interface/addons directory.

Yea but after every patch the Addons are "general" broken and all you should have to do is go and re-download the latest version.

This patch made all my mods/addons Incompatable with WoW so tonight I get to go get all the new ones.

I can't tie it to a particular inventory slot anymore? It was so much easier to just move food into that slot when it ran out. Now, I am going to have to keep changing the name everytime I use a different food?

They added some new functionality so that feeding your pet can be easy without a mod. They have given us the ability to put most items on your action bar. So, you can put your feed pet button, then right beside it you can drop your food into that slot. So to feed your pet you can just click on feed pet, then click on the food you have beside it....and you're done. You do have to click twice this way, but you don't have to mess with opening your bag at least.

Hope this helps.

Anything written for use in the game using the game's built in coding is fair use. This is why people who used decursive before this patch weren't banned because it was well within the ability of Blizzard's mod coding.

Anything that uses anything outside of the game is illegal. This would be things like glider.

If someone creates a mod that does the exact thing decursive did but within Blizzard's coding restrictions then it would be fair use and Blizzard won't ban you for it. Of course they'll probably recode it again.

Yea I will try tonight but if they are hammered to hard, then I will go on a Free the Hostage mission tonight.

Staring-----

Hostage - Guinness
Kidnapper - Refrigerator

Plan = sneak up on the refrigerator and sap him, while he is sapped I will steal 1 each 12 ounce Guinness, and then vanish. Unstealth at the couch, sit down and drink the beverage while watching Pirates of the Carab (2), then rinse and repeat until all the Hostages have been freed from their horrible Kidnapper.

Total Net exp = 6600
Total Gold net = 2.3

Refrigerator Rep -250
Guinness Rep +12 x 12 = 144

I'm totally lost without my addons. I know Auctioneer said it would be another 2 weeks before it's written for 2.0, and I haven't seen anything about engbags. Anyone have any decent replacements for the time being?
