Anyone notice the minor Enchanting Nerf?Follow

Before when I added a +Stat Enchant it would add that chant in addition to what was built into an item.

I remeber having some Boots from ZF with say +14 or so Agi and having an enchanter add +5 Agi to that. It would then show in green.

Last night I bought some new boots for my mage that had +3 Stamina built in. I went to enchant them to add +3 Stamina and it asked me if I would like to replace the +3 Stamina. I gave it a try for expirementation's sake.

It just replaced the +3 white stat rather than adding to it.

This may be a well known thing from PTR but it was new to me.

That is odd, I've never seen that before. I'm sure it's just one of many bugs they missed and will be fixed next week.

I hope.

Did it still show as +3 or was it +6 in white? Other threads are reporting that added enchants are now written in white as if they were part of the normal stats.. so I'm assuming:

+3 Stamina

would show as:

+6 Stamina - after enchanting

Are you sure about that? I had AGI enchants on some of my gear and it is still there, only in white not green. But there are 2 AGI numbers on the tooltip not one like you are saying.

All the enchants I had on my gear changed to white numbers rather than green. Also, I'm not sure what I think about the changes they made to how ratings are displayed. I love the new character screen, but my +1% attack speed on my gloves now shows as a 10 haste rating. I know what it means, but wasn't +1% attack speed descriptive enough?

Anyway, maybe you already had +3 stamina on your gear, but it showed up in white, so it looked like part of the regular stats on the item when it was actually an old enchant.

Yep, a lot of people are getting confused with this one. Enchants no longer show up as green. Let's say you have a piece of armor:

Armor of Slaying
+13 Stamina
+10 Agility

You go out and get +5 Stamina enchanted on it... the stats will now read:

Armor Of Slaying
+13 Stamina
+10 Agility
+5 Stamina

Lots of people are thinking their enchants are gone. I prefer the enchant to be a different color though. Was easy to see whether or not you had remembered to get one put on a piece or not.

It all shows in white now. I'm willing to bet the boots you bought already had a stamina enchant.

That's probably it, since you got the boots from the AH. It would explain the warning popup and the result - they already had the same enchant.

Edit:
Curse you all, with your fast replies.

It did not show them as +6 just +3.

It is logical to assume they already had a +3 enchant on them. I prefered the green display however so you could tell. Ahh well, we will see. I just wondered if anyone else noticed similar results.

It's a known bug.

There is a bug in the patch that is displaying all enchants as white text, which may cause them to appear as normal weapon stats. The bug is scheduled to be resolved in a future update.

My experience is that it lists two seperate +3 Stamina... one for the original armor bonus and one for the enchant bonus. People just aren't used to looking there for the extra stat.

It's good that they are fixing it.

I thought it was a permanent thing and was cursing the idea that I would buy an item hoping to enchant it only to find that I would be replacing an existing enchant. It's necessary to denote an enchant in some way.

I logged in and none of my enchants are shown on any gear in white or green. But the effects on my stats are still there. I got really worried until I did an equip un-equip test to see if they still gave me the stats.

I thought it was a slight oversight from the revamped ui coding. It doesn't make sense to make them the same color as the regular stats. It's a bit confusing and glad to see they'll be fixing it.

This is intentional to prepare for the new level cap. The reason they got rid of % bonuses to all the battle stats is to decrease how current level 60 gear scales past level 60. 1% attack speed is the same at level 5, level 60 or level 70 - but 10 hit rating is not.
