Auctioneer???Follow

#1 Dec 06 2006 at 6:58 AM Rating: Decent
anyone have any luck getting this UI mod back?

the things i really like about it.

1. in under 10min i can search the entire database for auctions and know that when i go to sell items i am competitive.

2. the tags it places on each item for how much they sell/buy to vendors, and if it has been seen in AH or not and for how much it goes for.

why do i like those 2 things?

1. i spend a lot of time collecting greens/whites to sell in the AH, for me it is part of the fun. this makes it better for me to get the information i need to make a profit when the time comes without raping or being a putz to other players.

2. see above, i have a limited storage space and when my bags start to get full i have to choose what items to destroy. if i have a gray item that sells for 1g yet a white item only goes for 50s in the AH, then im going to dump the white over that gray and vis a vis.

so before go flaming me for using auctioneer, has anyone found a working vs with the patch yesterday?

If you'd had a look for the original website for the mod (http://auctioneeraddon.com/), you'd see that it wont be ready for another couple of weeks or so.

This goes for the other addons in the bundle, like Enchantrix, Gatherer, and Informant.

For someone to flame you for using auctioneer would be quite ignorant. I've been trying as well to find an updated version and one has yet to come around. It is only the day after so it might end up taking some time to get it going.

found it here. nm... thanks anyways.

ahh thanks for the link above. found it via some google work. i normaly use curse or one of the other "mass UI mod" sites to grab my UI mods. curse has the name of the creator/supporter of auctioneer so i just hit that...

you would be surprised how many people here HATE this UI mod. i will be flamed before the day is out on it..

oh FYI, the alpha vs does seem to work at least for now.

ZOMG!11!!!!

No auctioneer for 2 more weeks. What am I going to do? How will I play the game till then?

Oh well, guess I'll have to bust out the good old calculator. It'll be just like the good old days.

Unless yo've written down the prices for a month for every item, it's not the same.

Is there anyway to save/recover data from the old one? Or would I have to start afresh with the new version?

one more little note. the alpha is a bit buggy, wow big supprise there... NOT, you can not post auctions via the auctioneer function, but the normal auction button does provide the set pricing and tells you the same info you would get form the other tab less the list of competition.

it will also hang and lock up the AH in a search that is fixable by /camp and then getting back into the game.

so there ya go enjoy.

There is a way to backup all data - just read the notes on the main site (they've wikkied them)

Haven't managed to login yet (EU server) but doesn't the ol' 'Load out of date addons' still get it working?

No it doesn't. Blizzard purposely made it so that no old addons would work until they updated it for this newest patch. If you use the "load out of date addons" option, all of your addons will still be red and say "incompatible" or something close to that.

Auctioneer is great, and would never get anyone flamed, I'm sure.

The Auction House (and Auctioneer) are great for my two sons, both early teens, who spend ages each night foraging for stuff and selling the raw materials or the items they make. Only about lvl 20 at most, they've leant more about supply/demand, forward planning, co-operating with each other and basic finance than they ever will at school :D I often joke that an enlightened teacher would give the Warcraft players in his/her class 5 gold each, then tell them to see how much they can turn it into by gathering or buying materials! It might make a nice class project to group several people and set them up as a mini-enterprise, even, with some people gathering and some doing the tradeskills.

My kids like to call me up to say they sold "X" items and got 5 gold last night and whatnot, and the little devils are richer than me! They spend as much as they earn, but in turn, that makes them able to expand and earn a bit more next time. Tycoons in the making, heh. Still, what with that and the improvement in their spelling and typing, so much for Warcraft being a waste of time :)

Nope. All addons are listed as "Incompatible".

Still, it was fun to play for a little while with out all the extra clutter on the screen. I think I'm going to be trimming back on the number of addons that I use/have active.

i seem to remember when this issue came up with the end of decursive, an other great add on that is now dead, there were plenty of folks around here cursing and saying all kinds of nasties about the auctioneer, like people who use it should die, etc...

anyways, the major changes to the UIs has been known about for a while, but it is not on the front of peoples minds until the patch comes out and everything is broke, intended or not.

cosmosUI is up and does seem to be working so i got several bits of what i wanted from my old UI mods back, CTMods is back up and running and as i mentioned above auctioneer is semi working in the alpha format and should be working 100% within a few weeks. so expect the 19th to be a great day for those of us who use that mod.

According to Norganna, there will be a two-week delay in getting the Auctioneer 2.0 mods up, due to real-life issues. Look for it around the 19th.

In past updates, there has always been a conversion from old to new data. I'd really hate to lose my auctioneer data base (data gathered since my current realm was new).

for the alpha vs there is a converter.

Hi all.

Auctioneer is great along with the rest of the addons that came whit it. I To hope I don/t have to re download the program and loose the data I've already.

I'm actually kind of enjoying auctioneer being broken...for personal, selfish reasons. In the last 24 hours, I've made about 40g worth of purchases in my favor, for a grand total of 8g. All because of people not bothering to notice that there's no mod pricing stuff for em.

Highlights:

10g worth of Goldthorn purchased for 12s.

2 small radiant shards(value ~12g) purchased for 8s.

Same here. I'm using 2.0 as an excuse to clean out my UI's and start over. I'm using Ace2 and Fubar as the basis for my UI's.

I too am using the alpha of Auctioneer. To fix some of the bugs, you can go to their bug tracker and find the latest versions of the .luas. Find the one popping the error and replace it with the latest and do a /console reloadui. In some cases, you may have to play around a bit to find the right version of the .lua but that is how I have been fixing errors that I have been getting.
