What will city raids be like now ?Follow

With all the talk of DKs being removed & the whole honor system revamp, how exactly will city raids change from what we're used to ?

Will they be at all more frequent, will there finally be some kind of reward for conquring (albiet for a short while) a town like southshore ?

I hear the guards have been buffed(unless the poster was just being funny) to level 65. If that's the case, it may help deal with the issues.

I think it's about time PvP servers where PvP servers. If the other side is organized enough to raid a city you should have to put up some kind of defence if you want to protect your city. Seeing as how you personally can be perfectly safe just by not flagging yourself for PvP whereas the auctioneers/bank npc's etc isn't so lucky.

I miss the good ol days of going back and forth between Tarren Mill (sp?) and Southshore for a few hours.. It was fun and much more dynamic then the same old BG wars.

The reasons DKs were introduced, and city raids disappeared, was because of the servers crashing during said-raids.

Hopefully the new ones can handle city-raids better.

I really hope city raids (that don't crash the servers) will come back. I miss them. That's what WOW should be about, the war between Alliance and Horde, and attempting to hold the other faction's cities. I have a lot more fun playing against an unpredictable human than a scripted program, and find it ridiculous that they limited PvP to silly capture-a-flag contests. It doesn't fit with the lore, with the environment, with the spirit of WOW.

Bring on city-raids.

Dalaran had a couple city raids on Monday night. Kalimdor crashed every time the raid entered a new zone(and the lag was unbearable).

Granted, this was a VERY large raid. There was a simultaneous SW raid on the Eastern Kingdoms. I just logged off and went back to bed for a pre-work nap.

On Dark Iron the Penny Arcade Alliance had 23 full 40 man raid groups and attacked all horde cities, some at the same time.

It crashed only once, near the end.

I lost the link, but on Smolderthorn 8x 40man raids went to IF, served crashed 5~ times.

But the truth is, I wasn't playing when the city raids where there but I seriously hope they come back. Like RedPhoenixxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx said, its all about that, war between the factions.

Besides, I would get a payback to all those warlocks who killed me while leveling. :P

I'm tired of the jerks who use pvp as an excuse to be asshats.

City raids as of now are still dead. There's a reason everyone raided on the few days before the patch.

If you've tried to raid somthing last night or this morning, you'll realize the new level 65 guards have around 30k HP.

That's 20man raid trash quality. You can't just steamroll those guys. Much less kill the elite ones near the leaders (well, the ones in UC are elite)

I suppose maybe raiding crossroads or somthing is still a viable option, but the old TM/SS smackdown days of old are gone, at least until TBC.

That was pre-patch.
