Blizzard, let me use my own interface, please!!!Follow

the standard Blizzard interface is horrible. I was using Insomniax Recomp. If anybody knows of any 3rd party interfaces that will work with the new patch please post it here. I knew one day Blizzard would eventually cockblock all the 3rd party folks because of their ego just like Microsoft.

What? Just wait for it to be updated with the patch.

And there is absolutely nothing wrong with the standard interface.

I actually READ the NEW Terms of Use agreement.

It specifcally states that "mods" are now illegal.

But then it goes on to say that all "add-ons" must be approved by Blizzard. What the difference is, I don't know.

I do know that ALOT of the people that wrote the mods that all ended up on curse-gaming will probably give up. I have no idea what the approval process consists of, but my guess it will be a long, arduous journey.

So, basically, get used to THEIR interface as you will probably be using it for quite awhile.

In case some of you haven't figured it out yet, the entire lua system that was used for mods has been changed making ALL mods that existed before today TOTALLY USELESS. The game will not recognise them other to tell you in the add-ons window that they are "incompatable".

Every single thing you said here is incorrect.

Mods for the new version of WoW are already out, and have been for a while. There are new restrictions on what precisely they can do (by and large, what was removed was the ability to use Scripting Logic to dictate spell-casts; i.e. cast Shield if target is below 20%, cast flash heal if between 21-40%, cast renew if above 41%. This broke a ton of mods, but the fixes are quite easy to impliment.

Yes, the LUA scripting language changed... but not in any significant way. A competant author can make the small syntax changes in about thirty seconds.

the worst thing is that blizzard first stated when they came out with the game that they wanted PLAYERS to create UI Mods to "enhance the game" and stated that Blizzard would do LITTLE to update/grade the basic UI.

now what has happened is that a large amount of the really useful mods, like extra cast bars, side bars, speed up the quest log text, scroll text, auto select correct level spell, etc, have all been STOLEN from players, added to the base UI and some of them have been made bannable against the TOS...

great, WTG blizzard state one thing, then do an other.

just FYI, the new CTMods and CTRaid are working with todays patch. sadly auctioneer and easymail are NOT working yet.

Please take your conspiracy elsewhere.

Players have written mods and UIs to enhance gameplay and that continues to this day. Blizzard has made little changes here and there to their UI. Compare the current one to when the game first came out. All the differences I see are little tidbits here and there but in general it's got the exam same feel as before. That sounds like very little update/grade to the basic UI to me.

Stolen from the players? Are you kidding? Sure they've taken ideas but aren't these options that players have been asking for and saying should be part of the default UI for everyone? I know I have. Second these are ideas being stolen just like how sony isn't the only one with a television or dvd player. Other companies will see what their competitors are doing and add on or try something similar. Another thing is Blizzard isn't getting paid for these add-ons to the UI. Sure you could argue about our monthly fee etc, but with Blizzard implementing ideas and options players are using and asking for they make it available not just to x or y ui users. Besides those people who make those custom uis are doing it for the players. Sounds like Blizzard is on the same team to me. Stolen is hardly the word I'd use for it because who's benefitting from it? The players are which in return is good for Blizzard to keep customers refreshed and happy.

Stop making Blizzard out to be the bad guy because they're adding useful content and changes for the players. You really need to get more tinfoil I think yours is getting rusty.

Thought it was kinda obvious myself. Things that Add something to the game are fine, (Auctioneer, GEM) something that modifies the game, isn't. (Custom UI's and so on, most likely.)

Most of CT_mod works and they're working on the rest but what works is currently available here. -link-
