15$ per month that figures to 105mil$ usd per month. And it still takes 18 hours for a patch.

Now I understand That the servers using a crap load of bandwidth cost a small countries debt to run.[/rant]

You go make a game that people across the country can all log into, with limited to no lag, then make flawless upgrades to said game with little to no downtime....then get back with us.

why dont i go make a game?? what a stupid response. maybe its because i dont have 6 - 10 years university and computer programming experiance under my belt. why dont you go make a game...sheesh. why dont you shut your mouth and stop sticking up for billion dollar companies. i find it funny i cant even log onto their 3rd world website while they are updating. i guess you cant run 20+ servers and a website on a 233. go figure. these programmers get what 20$ - 30$ an hour. they should be phenominal at their job. anyone know of any good mmorpg comming out soon? im looking for a change as im sure alot of other people are. 105 FREAKING MILLION A MONTH!! well that could explain why there is no lag. why is it so extraordinary that their game has no lag. this isnt the first massive internet game out. there has been alot of practice up to this point. i just want to hit you and all the other chumps that are little blizz lackeys. [/RANT!!!]

Go play another game if you can't handle having maintenance. There's a life outside your computer.
#9 Dec 05 2006 at 6:10 PM Rating: Decent
If you had 6-10 years university and computer programming experience under your belt you are saying you'd get a massive patch that effects every single character implemented in 18 hours or less?

It's not like they are purposely doing it at the slowest rate possible on Mac Classics. It's just not possible.

He does kind of have a point though. With the subscriber base they have, you'd think they'd work harder at keeping to their schedule. Of the 2 next-gen games, I'd have to say that EQ2 does a lot better job of holding to their maintenance schedule, than WoW does.

Lemonade stand logic is always funny. Revenue=!profit.

Having the audacity to complain about a situation when you have next to no information on the kind of problems Blizzard's patch team faces is also humorous. I'm sure they're taking so long because they break for 1 hour games of scrabble after 15 minutes of patching, it is totally not because it actually takes 18 hours to get it done.

Quoted 'cause I like sarcasm and like Allegory I don't like when people talk about things when they have no clue.

dirttrack and DarkProdigy keep it going. I suppose that doesn't prove trollish intent, but ....

Um ... I don't pay 15 USD/month, nor do I think the other players in China do. We pay 35 RMB for a fixed number of units (what that works out to in minutes has slipped my mind). That is about 5 USD/card, with low usage players going through fewer, and high usage players burning through more.

As noted above, your figures are off for a rather large number of people.

"BLIZZARD ENTERTAINMENT"

is the name of the company... keyword? ENTERTAINMENT relax man its a game played for entertainment value nothing in life is perfect ( well jessica alba DOES approach perfection imo) while it is immensely frustration to lose a bg or a battle or get dcd during whatever you are doing.... you need to understand that like anything else... MOST of the time... the servers work fine and the game is a ton of fun... the rest of the time... they are WORKING to fix the problems... as an engineer (nuclear) with a lot of experience in my respective field... i can tell you.. problem solving and troubleshooting is not an exact science... once you have followed the logic tree and pinpointed the problem the solution IS usually exact in regards to what it takes to correct the presented problem.... it is identifying the problem that takes a bit of time.

try solving problems with tens of millions of lines of code across a multi server internet played game...personally... i think they do quite a nice job in getting things running and keeping them that way on a regular basis.

if you would like to try and understand.... try taking one semester of engineering classes.. engineering of any discipline.... and see how far you get.

Also keep in mind that they make all that revenue and all their servers (pretty sure their up to 100+) are top of the line and were free. The server fairy brought them during the night. Same goes for the programmer fairy and the designer fairy. The rent fairy pays for all the office buildings blizzard owns. Oh and probably most importantly the electricity fairy takes care of all the power needs for blizzard. So all that 100 mil plus a month they bring in goes towards hot pockets and internet ****. /sarcasm

Ielast 3 patchs all in under 2 hours, not including the reinstall so I don't see what your problem is. (don't use the offical downloader it is slow, there are over ways).

Johnny Depp can slap me with his pimp cane anytime.....

I don't know what Eve's player base number is so but i know FF11 has about half a mil people playing they can usually keep to their schedule mainly because of the size of their player base...WoW has over 7.5 million players playing, now wether or not thats actually counting all the extra toons that each individual character plays idk, if someone does feel free to post, but this is going off that they don't count that, when applying the patch they tweak EVERYTHING from my understanding, so while a little of your rant is feasable, the rest just sounds like your screaming for attention and you want to try and make everyone yell at you because your either an a. S&M man in need of some lovin, or b. your a lonely emo who didn't feel like cutting themself today so theydecided to get their buddy and **** with everyone on here for kicks.

I agree with Xar, this is a game played for Entertainment value, although i do know alot of people put loads of time in here you really shouldn't loose your touch with reality, you know thats why they give you that warning in FF11 and i'm sure they give it to you in WoW somewhere(i just haven't seen it yet) about remembering that the game is a fictitious(sp) realm and should be treated as such, just like everyone should treat these guys insults as a poor childs cry for attention and shouldn't be taken seriously in the least, because really...you calling me a name on a message board isn't going to ruin my weekend and make me go cry in my room while listening to songs about how sorry my life is, i'm going to laugh, go play with my friends on WoW and then go out and hang with my RL friends so on that note....have a nice day ^^

(sorry for the long message to those that read all of it >.>)
