Hunters completely useless??Follow

#1 Dec 05 2006 at 4:07 PM Rating: Decent
I realised in patch agility now only gives one attack power instead of the two it gives now and im wondering now will Hunters be able to keep a competitive level with rogues now? i am a 28 hunter and can pass or keep up with rogues at or around my level during instances and might consider rerolling because this is complete BS i would like to know what non-hunters and hunters think about this because you dont really need that much pulling in low to mid level instances and usually only get groups if theres not another DPS class around i will be grateful for all input

I'm worried about it - without a doubt.

I've spent some 8 months collecting +400 agi. It looks like this has just been made into the equivalent of +200 agi in one fell swoop - which doesn't compare well with the +300dmg of my mage or +600 heal of my raiding priest.

Waits to be seen. Perhaps hunters as a class will die in popularity or perhaps there will be a boost to +ap items?

Either way, it's a worry. Perhaps hunter won't be the first I'll level to 70 now.

dont be worried about it, ya agi now is only 1 ap, but look at other things we get, range items become better, ammo better, etc. I have 507 agi, 1428range ap and like 190range dps(as of before patch) and on PTR's I have 390 agi, 1350 range ap and 205.4 dps. Yes I lost agi(mainly due to not taking the +15% agi talent) but I gained dps, gained crit%, and for loss of like ~80 range ap. Over all we aren't useless, just don't get 2 ap for 1 agi anymore. But, we now only need like 35 agi or so for 1 crit. And, forgot to say, alot of hunter items have been "revamped", look at the tiers, they lost a little bit of agi, but gained a crap load of +ap, take giantstalker leggings, lost 10 agi, but gained 42 ap. So, no we are not pointless.

Well, if you look at some of the gear from like MC and do the math you'll see that while it's being cut some, the AP bonuses come in and make it equal. This is for the hunter only gear i'd immagine though, but yea in essence it is like we got a 50% cut in DPS.

Hmmm... if what Uhyun said is true, then maybe it isn't all that bad. I never went on the PTR because last time I went on it I was really dissapointed with it... so... Well time will tell.

Now also to make matters worse our pets going to get hit whin we get hit with a spell? SO my pet is what part of me. Give me a break we been nerfed!! Worse than nerfed we been @%$#! over. Tell me where your going to make up 50% your attack?? Were as a class nolonger viable as i see. Dam lot work for nothing.

There's a lot of changing taking place. Leave the jump to conclusions mat in Office Space -- it's a terrible idea.

ya, hunters got nerfed by the patch~ I'll admit that. However, to be completely fair, the new abilities in the expantion will more then offset the damage done now. Sux to be a hunter now, but at least in january people will actually want hunters in their group for a change ^^;

Ah you guys worry to much. My mains a 60 hunter, from what i see yup we got a pretty nasty nerf. All i can hope after trying all these new skills out that things will be different.

IM sorry im just excited every class gets some new abilities to try out. :) I guess i have high hopes.

You're getting more crit from AGI now and ranged weapon DPS is being increased... I think it will be fine.

From my quick stay on my server, i got to respec. I'm guessing that in order for you to regain your old DPS you will have to respec full Marks. Which sucks because you will lose other abilities just to regain that.

I had a MM/Surv hybrid, now I'm full marks and I am back to my old DPS but I lost all my Surv abilites just to get that back. If I go back to my old build I will lose all the RAP at the bottom of the MM tree. We got screwed with out the KY IMO.

Oh and guys make sure you dont spec Silencing Shot you'll just waste the talent point right now.

I personaly love this patch my hunters dps has increased greatly it went from 120 to 135 at lvl 48. My build is BM and my pet has just became an awsome tank now he went from 2300 hp to 3100 AC went from 4800 to 5300 and his dps went from like 25 to 40. Plus with the new talents my shot rate goes down to less than a second and my dps goes up some more. So i have no complaints from this patch it def was not a nerf for BM's just MHO

Look at what warriors and shamans got, then see if you still feel so bad. Everyone knows that things are probably going to change a good amount in the next patch, based upon what happens in the coming weeks.

I was planning on creating a new character. Looks like it's definitely not going to be a hunter.

Are we now on the O-Boards?
I think QQ is normal answer to what most people do here.

I have 60hunter alt and the changes look pretty balanced. Only person who knows what is he talking about is Uhyun and gets rate up from me for that actualy usefull post.

Better ammo? It will probably cost even more too.

I also spent a lot of time gathering pure Agility items, for crit, armor, dodge, you name it. I've always hated Attack Power for the same reasons; I want Armor and Dodge of my Agility!

I probably won't like this change much, but I guess we'll have to see anyway.

Have you whiners actually played your hunters since the patch? I have and let me tell you my damage has not changed to the point where I'm crying over lost dps. Quit crying and look at the talents and gear changes you might be surprised.

Hunters are not nerfed. We have been changed. If we continue to play the same way we did before the change, then yes, we will do much less damage simply because that is not the most efficient way to play our class now.

Don't complain, adapt.
#19 Dec 06 2006 at 1:00 AM Rating: Default
the only use for a hunter in a raid is to do Tranquility shot anyways. That hasnt changed, so stop QQ.
#20 Dec 06 2006 at 1:04 AM Rating: Default
All you guys happy with this change are damn fools & I condem you all.

Been playing hunter for almost a year & all of a sudden, blizzard turns everything upside down.

What the **** are you so happy about.
#21 Dec 06 2006 at 1:05 AM Rating: Default
i forgot, hunters are also good for pulling mobs in a raid. that hasnt changed either, so stop QQ.

I personally have a 60 hunter in T1 and I have to say that the change in AP is pretty disappointing but its also got some merit. The way that Agi scales up when you hit higher lvls is different from what it is right now so the cevs had to change things up a bit. True, 1 Agi = AP now but people have to take into consideration that

1. the new wicked arrows cost only 4s more a stack but increase DPS 9 points over jagged

2. In the BC, the crit ratio of 56 agi to 1% crit is improved to 33 agi to 1% crit

3. Aim shot and Arcane shot are on seperate timers

4. Traps can be set in combat now

and that 5. Current items have gotten AP buffs to help compensate.

There really isn't anything to complain about, its just a new way of playing :)

I'm still trying to quit the habit of spamming Aim Shot >_<

I was pissed when I first saw the change. Been playing my hunter since the server went back on and... No noticeable difference in DPS.

What I did notice was the HUGE buff my pet got. Cat went from around 950 HP to 1100, armor's buffed, her DPS increased slightly, and I've not once been affected my a debuff affecting her (or vice-versa). Fought casters, spiders, anything with a debuff I wouldn't risk much from and none of it touched me. Buffs DID touch her though and that'll make up for when I'm in a two man group and the priest doesn't want to waste mana to stambuff my cat before it tanks.

My alt hunter went total BM and... I might have to respec my main to that. Sure, you take a hit in your own dps, but the alt's level 24 cat is now on par with my level 30 cat in most ways and exceeding it in the rest.

Only issue I've got was the forced-switch to melee when they leave range with no forced-switched back to autoshot when they immediately leave melee. Not even a real issue, but I'd've thought it would go both ways.
#24 Dec 06 2006 at 4:30 AM Rating: Decent
At least now hunters might be less likely to pull aggro in a group and pull the mob away from where the tank and melee DPS are all standing...
Feign death is nice and all that, but we still have to waste time chasing the mob around because some ranged DPSer decided they wanted to try to top the damage charts and "it doesn't matter because I can always feign death lol".

There are also still plenty of fights where a lot of it's ranged DPS only and I'm sure you're still out-DPSing the rogues and warriors there (I usually do about

-T (grumpy).

Multi-Shot will be a good opener (along with Aimed Shot) with the new "Threat goes to.. *spin bottle* ..you!" ability.

But that won't be available until the expansion hits, will it?

I logged into my hunter last night and almost had an ******.

There is NOTHING about this patch that is bad for hunters. The ONLY thing that was changed was the LR build will not out-dps MM builds in raids (as it should be, IMO). Our DPS will be the same (actually better) in the long run. This was done to fix the terrible itemization at > tier 1 for hunters.

This patch made:
- 1 agi = 1 RAP but buffed the RAP of all the items so the overall contribution was the same
- Arcane shot not suck
- Aimed shot and arcane shot not share a timer
- Totally buffed talents
- And made hunters PVP GODS
- Our pets got totally buffed beyond belief
- The BM tree not totally suck at raiding.

Plus with misdirection, hunters are now the aggro-control for fights in raids. Or rather, will be, once the XPac hits.

<---------- Happy happy hunter.
