Hoping i could get some advice, or see if this is happened to anyone else. Bout an hour ago I logged into WoW to see if there was anymore of the patch to download, and it went to the update screen, after which the downloader started up(I had 99% already downloaded an it just had to get the last 1%). Once the last part finished, it began to install(with the list of patch notes there to browse).

It finished and I clicked ok, and it went to what should have been either the WOW logon screen or the new TOS agreement. Only I can't see anything!!! the background music is playing, but everything is simply 2 colors, with an ugly brown blocks where text should be!

I could minimize wow and the computer runs fine. so i closed wow, tried rebooting, and restarting windows. the restarted WOW.....same thing, just blocks on a pure black background!! Other games work fine so it's not my system.

Am I screwed?! Is this happening to anyone else? If it's a problem with the patch, is there a way to fix this without completely reinstalling all of WOW from scratch?! Please help..the thought of downloading every patch from the last year AND 2.0 patch..on a PATCH day no less..is not a pleasent thought.

Help me Allakhazamers...you're my only hope.

There is a SMALL, VERY SMALL, possibility that with the patch they upped the system requirements to that of TBC as they have changed sys req in the past. So, if they did (though I don't think they did) there is the equally small posibility that your PC no longer meets the requirements to play WoW which could explain the blank screen. Maybe your video card is old or something and can't support something you need? Or maybe they made it so you need a directx or something and you don't have that. It is hard to say really. Also, a better idea then saying we are your only hope is to just wait a day or two and post on the o-boards. I say wait a day or two because of how hammered they are right now.

Have you made sure your drivers are the most recent ones? Old drivers can make your computer do goofy things sometimes.

I had something similar happen. I got the EULA and ToS fine, but the back ground was simply black after that.

I ended up renaming my interface folder and it fixed the problem.

Now if the servers would just come back up.

Thanks for all the advice. With the servers down anyway, I decided to bite the bullet, and reinstall WOW from scratch to be safe. God I hope it's not a system requirement thing. I've played the game on this computer since a few months after launch, and never had an issue.

Between finishing all my Chistmas shopping already, and a few other recent expenses, I'm in no shape for shelling out for a new computer now.

I am on a G5 Mac and renamed my "Interface" directory and ran WoW again. Worked like a champ and created a new "Interface" directory.

Great advice.

Rate ups.

And this is why I keep EVERY patch I have ever downloaded for WoW and routinely back them up to a DVD. Then, I don't have to download them again if I ever need to reinstall.

Let me know if reloading the game fixed the problem.
I have the exact same problem. I have rebooted my comp, renamed the Interface folder, defragged just in case, and now I'm going to check and make sure my video card is okay. But yes, if anybody else has any other advice, that would be wonderful!
