Secret Cave...?Follow

#1 Dec 03 2006 at 11:21 PM Rating: Decent
Well so I was playing WoW today when I asked my 36 Night Elf Rogue Friend what good places there are to level for my 31 fire Mage. Anyways, he told me the reason he leveled so fast (when I met him, he was Level 9 and I was Level 11). So, He responded by saying his cousin told him and made mention of a Secret Cave... (entitled well, "The Secret Cave" I think). He said his Cousin who has 5 Level 60's told him it's the best to level REALLY easy. He said there were wweeeaaak humanoids there that were Level 38-40 and gave really good loot + XP. I asked him where it was and he said he swore to his Cousin he would never tell. Sounds like BS to me. I mean hell, I don't even know the guy other than in WoW and it's not like his cousin would find out... Whatever, given all of WoW's secret areas etc. I actually gave this a chance. Anyways, Have any of You guys ever heard of such a place? If you have.... Where??

Sounds like BS to me, i've never seen something like that before, although a few places have mobs similar to that, not too hard and level 40ish. I'd have to log in to check the exact place names/levels though, and I can't right now.

Yeah, I was thinking the same. However, like you suggested it could just be some random cave with easy to kill enemies. Well, thanks alot for your input, I'll continue to follow this...

The only place I can think of is the pirate cave in Arathi. Though it's been a long time since I went there last, and I don't remember exactley where it was, or the level of the mobs there.

Then again he could be just messing with you <.<

Seeing the levelrange its the pirate cave in Tanaris.
There's nothing secret about it since on my server (3rd toon i was bringing to 60) it was heavily overcamped, might differ from server to server though.
Pulls are nasty there (its easy to pull multiple mobs) and the mobs arent any weaker/drop better loot then waste wanderers they are slightly lower level.
There are a few quests that you must kill x number of pirates, get x item, for that area that are quick and easy to do all at once there.
Lost riggers cove
Iirc its better/faster to grind basilisks in the shimmering flats, its somewhere on the border. Anyway Tanaris has far better "quiet spots" to grind like Thistleshrub valley and southmoon ruins.
Disclaimer: im absolutly not sure about level ranges, i didnt memorize them :P

It also could be Faldir's cove although i think not bc you cant really grind there, its just a pirate camp with a very cool "trigger" quest. The one where you have to fight off the invasion with the cannon, very funny one.
Other quests require you to jump in the sea and kill murlocs or the sort. They always drop craploot.

There are no "secrets" in WoW just places off the beaten paths, look at the map and where you would usually go and dont go there but somewhere else. And dying isnt bad in WoW so dont be afraid to die. You get less competition in youre whole way to 60 and on a PvP server, that matters ;)
I always liked exploring so when i leveled the first time i wasted most time by just walking around and seeing the sights i can really recommend that if you plan to take multiple characters to 60. And youll enjoy the game more too!
Like finding Faldir's cove on my own and doing the quests there is one of the most enjoyable experiences ive had in WoW.

As mentioned, there are less traveled areas that are nice to level at, as there is less competition for the mobs. What places are best often depends on your class and even your professions. A rogue might do very well in a cave environment. But a mage needs room to pull and caves can make leveling more time consuming. You might prefer killing sinkable mobs if you have skinning, as you can level and make more money at the same time. If you have mining then killing mobs in an area where ore spawns is a good thing.

If you happen to be farming, as in killing lower level mobs fast for drops, there are some “magic” camps. There are several gnoll camps in the Wetlands, for example, where at least one mob will always be present no mater how fast you kill. So if you need lots of wool cloth you can take a higher level character there and kill non-stop. There’s at least one camp of worgen like that in Duskwood that’s great for medium leather. There are several camps of bandits along the base of the mountain behind the ogres above Southshore. These don’t respawn like the above camps, but in two years I’ve only seen one other person killing them when I’ve farmed them for cloth drops.

As Sjans said, the road less traveled can often lead to good leveling/grinding spots.

hehe,
Nice idea for raidchat when youre raiding farmed stuff, making a sinkable mob list and having useless discussions about why a certain mob would sink or float.
Like in Monty python and the holy grail, "really small rocks!".

I think its harder for rogue to grind in the lost rigger's cove bc of fast popping patrols and all mobs run and are fairly tight packed.
