WoWReader Issues & Help (v.4)Follow

I saw this asked once before, but I cannot find a reply to it.

I do not want all of my characters shown. I uncheck the mod for the characters I want to leave out of the profiles, but every time WoWReader has an update, they're checked once more. Are there any plans to fix this, or is there already a fix I am unaware of? I tire of having to delete the profiles on Alla's and then go back into the Addons to deselect the addon for each character I don't want shown. =/

You're probably referring to my previous post on this. I can only repeat that this is a really annoying problem.

Also, I noticed that the armory link on character pages always links to the US armory, even though I play on EU servers...

HI Guys,

WoWReader had been working nicely for me, up till I bought a new computer with Win Vista.

Tried running it in XP Comapatability mode, can't get it to work, can still update it on my laptop, but do not use it for gaming (not up to scratch).

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Elanas, 70 NE Priest Spinebreaker

[edit]Tried running as administrator too (sorry should have said)

I'm having the same issue. I also have a new PC with Windows Vista. I tried also running the program as an administartor and was not able to launch the program. Any help would be appreciated.

PLEASE, get rid of all the private server things. They're really annoying. There's like 3 Kael'thas, tons of "GM" items (with GM in the name, mind you), multiple twin blades of azzinoth, legendary flying mounts, and so on....

Probably not.

I am getting this error message when starting the reader:

Error during SavedVariables search using base 'C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\': Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account'.

How do I resolve this?

The problem I'm having is that my alts don't show all of my quests. My mage, Sodaminsane, has about 12 quests currently, but the site here only shows 5. Everything is fine for my main character, Jorodd. Any ideas?

My HP's are 2550 off. I just got a bunch of upgrades and it's showing it correctly on my profile, but not on the profile rankings though my mana and armor are listed correctly. I know it takes an hour or so to refresh the profile rankings, but it's been several days.

This may have been answered before, but I am running low on time and I want this fixed as soon as possible ya know?

Anyway, everytime I go to connect and upload it says that there is no connection because the target machine has actively refused it.

Any ideas?

This just started happening out of the blue! Here's my error...

Error writing wowreader.exe: Access to the path "C:\Program Files\Wowreader\-wowreader.exe" is denied.

When I click "Ok" it closes and tries again, over and over until I cancel/close it by clicking the little "close" box on the upper right of the progress window that pops up as it's trying to start. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but no change.

WTF? I haven't changed a thing! It WAS working fine.

(Sorry about the repost, I must have clicked the wrong posting link before)

ISSUE RESOLVED!! Sorry, I figured it out myself. I just set Wowreader to run as adminitrator and it updated fine. Thanx! :)

Having read the new Blizzard patch Ts&Cs, I'm worried that wowreader might contradict the data collection provision. I've uninstalled it for now, though I'm a big fan of allakazam and have been a happy wowreader contributor - I can't afford to get my account banned.

So, in the hope that I'm overly paranoid, wanted you folks to comment on this. Is it safe, are we in contravention?

Sometimes it crashes and I get that error. Other times it allows me to choose the location of WoW.exe, and then after I do nothing happens.

Same problem as LexTaliones, although I think it says "_wowreader.exe"

A new version is now up that fixes the problem with quests not showing in profiles since the last patch.

It also includes some improved compatibility with vista.

I'm getting a similar message, except it's 'C:\Users\<myusername>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\'

Oh, and it's never required me to run it as an administrator before -- now, when I run it, it pops up some B.S. about "cancel or allow" and when I click allow it fails with no error message at all (the first time). If I run it a second time (or run it as an administrator the first time), that's when I get the "SavedVariables search" error message. I click OK and it goes to the WoWReader main screen, but won't load the cache.

I deleted WoWReader and re-installed it. I deleted the Wr2.lua and Wr2.lua.bak files from the SavedVariables folder buried deep within my WoW folder, and I've deleted the Cache sub-folder from my WoW folder. Ran WoW, logged in, logged out... Still the same problem. My computer froze up (it IS 64-bit Vista after all) last night, and I was forced to run ScanDisk upon rebooting -- but WoWReader worked fine after the freeze-up/ScanDisk last night. It's today that the problem appeared -- nearly a full 24 hours later...

Is there a solution to this?! I've been using WoWReader for many months now, and have never had a single problem with it. PLEASE tell me how to fix this!

HA!!! Guess again. I am getting the same error as the poster above this. Why? well because the folders that WoWReader is looking for don't exist. They are in the default locations in the WoW program directory though. What is wrong with reading from the default C:\...\World of Warcraft\WTF\blah blah blah? Don't claim better compatibility with Vista if isn't true.

I am experiencing the same thing here as last two posters. It started yesterday afternoon after it has been working for many months with no problems other than the usual wait for patch updates. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no change. I am using Windows Vista Business 32 bit.

Additionally, I am frustrated and irritated that I have to do the UAC confirm thing for "An unidentified program wants access to your computer" (Cancel or Allow) every time I want to run WowReader.

same error as those above me, though it seems to be trying to update and that's when it asks for administrator rights.

Theres a new version up that should fix the error you're seeing.

The only time it should ask for administrator access is when it's installing a new update, which should be pretty rare.
