Firey Vs. +5 DMG EnchantsFollow

Hi, looking for some advise here about the afore mentioned enchants. I am a 54 Hunter dual wielding an Axe of the Deep Woods and a Shadowblade both with Firey on them already. My best friend is a 300 chanter and he just picked up +5 to 1h and I was wondering if it's worth investing.

Now before I get a barrage of "Hunters don't need to melee posts", I believe in having the best gear available and it's logical to me to be able to melee mobs especially when soloing to save on MP and it's great when farming. I have a Dwarven Hand Cannon so I tear through mobs really quickly but it's nice to be able to take on a couple of higher level epic mobs at a time and survive.

The Firey seems to proc for 50-60 every couple of swings (having it on both weaps) and I was just wondering how much DPS I'd be adding with +5 dmg in comparison.

Any thoughts? Experience?

Why wouldn't I want to hear it? This is my first toon, I'm willing to take advice. What I would like however is a reason why 15agi is what I want. =)

You are a hunter. AGI= attack power and crit chance and all that good stuff that is important to you. +15AGI is expensive however, I think there is a +7 which may be more in your price range.

I do appreciate the advice, but why do you continue to talk down to me? "You don't want to hear it" & "more in your price range". I made 145g yesterday, I'm sitting on several hundred Gold and I have 5 purples. How do you know what is my price range? I have been playing MMO's for about 7 years in several games and making money has always come easy to me. I analyze the market and make a strategy accordingly. I was just asking a question about these 2 enchants.

There is only +15agi.

What you don't want to hear is that only time when hunter should melee is when training weapon skill and on rare occasions in pvp, mostly only to slow oponent and gain distance again. Anything else is not hunter played at most effectivity, it's possible but wont save you time/mana/health really.

To your question +5damage on weapon in DPS is calculated quite easy, it's 5/<weapon speed>.

Just that point.

To me it seemed that you did not want advice on +15AGI, because that is for ranged. You seemed to be into melee damage.

And as for saying it may be out of your price range, most 54's dont have 100's of gold to throw around. Not insulting you; was just giving you advice from my prospective of not knowing you and just lumping you into an average player.

Easy way to solve this, re-roll a rogue, problem solved.

I'll expect the payment in cash this time. Thank you, come again ;)

The calculation for +5 damage is, as noted, pretty easy - just add 5 divided by the weapon speed to the DPS of the weapon and calculate from there. Fiery is a little more complex, but usually +5 comes out ahead if the weapon is 2.3ish speed or faster.

However, as noted, +15 AGI is a strictly superior enchant for Hunters. It will give you 15 normal attack power (which is to say, 1.07 DPS to _both_ of your weapons) as well as 30 ranged attack power, although come... Tuesday that will be 15 melee and ranged attack power. However, instead of giving you ~.25% chance to crit it will also give you ~.5% chance to crit, so... yeah. It balances out.

Short version; get +15 AGI. It'll honestly add more melee DPS if you're not using _very_ fast weapons because it grants both attack power and crit, as well as giving you ranged attack power and crit to help with your bow attacks.

Pick up enchanting. Disenchant them. Go buy two +agi items. Put +15agi on them or leave them alone. Thanks, come again.
