I agree with alot that are saying, making gold in this game is fairly easy. I too played FFXI, and so far, I have had a much easier time in making money in WoW than I ever did in FFXI.
Also, I reported the one time this happened to me, but is this the norm or something in WoW? I had some random tell saying basically "buy gold at "insertgoldbuyingwebsitehere". Enhance your WoW experience with gold and fun!" Some friends of mine that are in my Guild said someone sent them a tell saying along the lines of the same thing. All the GM told me basically was, thank you for enforming them, they would look into it, and to watch out for Gnomes! o_O Wish all GMs in every game were funny like the 2 I have talked to so far in WoW lol.

Regardless, there would be no way for Blizzard to ever prove you paid RL currency for gold unless they sued the gold seller, got a subpoena, and found a copy of the transaction including your name, your character's name, and your credit card info. For all they can prove, it was just a benevolent chinese farmer sending random people bundles of gold.

This is the thing many people don't understand, Blizzard doesn't need proof, they can ban you for any reason they choose including just not wanting you to play the game anymore.

Speaking impartially, I can see the lure. As I sit on my level 60 Tauren watching my epic mount cash creep up slowly enough to make me want to tear out my hair (OhMikeGhod's claims of how easy it is to make 6000g a week notwithstanding), I CERTAINLY understand. Or when someone offers something in Trade or on AH that I would love to own and can't afford. But I've never spent a nickel on bought money or items, even in games where doing it is 100% legal, and I never will. And thus every item I own brings me far more pleasure and satisfaction than something acquired with no effort or work.

I'm there with you. I've gone out and farmed for everything I have and even though I'm the last one away from the starting gates in a bg; I catch up eventually on my regular mount. I would love to have 175 riding skill but it wouldn't mean as much if I cheated and bought the rights to have it.
