PTR PvP Price list & info (picture within)Follow

#1 Nov 25 2006 at 10:29 AM Rating: Excellent
For those who don't feel like copying a character over & downloading the client just to check out the prices of things, here is a picture I made that will show you the cost of pvp items after the patch. >>Clicky<<

This is from alliance side only, but horde should expect the similar prices on the horde counterpart items.

The rare/epic pvp armor shown is from a rogues perspective.
I'm not sure if it's more or less or different for other classes, but it should give you an idea of about how much those sets are.

This is straight off the test realm, things can still change between now and the release, so keep that in mind.

Price key -
Little alliance shield - Honor Points (horde side will be the horde pvp symbol)
Greyish square - Eye of the storm badges
Medal on a blue ribbon - AV badges
Big blue badge - AB badges
Stone rune thing - WSG badges

Enjoy! Smiley: grin

Holy cow, excellent work. Now, do you know if the PvP mounts require 75 riding or 150 riding skill?

Now I know why we were told to grind rep fast or forget about it.

24000 honor and 40 AV medals for The Unstoppable Force. The honor is, well, meh, but the pain is the 40 AV medals.

Think they're increasing the amount of medals earned for a loss/win?

20 AV medals for the semi-crap Stormpike neck? Smiley: eek

90 medals for the AV mount! Smiley: lol

The ones from the mount vendor (commanders mount) require 150, as does the one from AV. (battlecharger/frostwolf)

I doubt it, check out the GM weapons. Only 20 medals and a crap ton of honor for 1h weapons... and when it comes to the unstoppable force, it's only 20k additional honor points to get the GM/HWL 2h mace.

If you already got the 40 medals, you might as well just save those extra honor points and get a much better weapon. The only downside is the loss of the chance to stun; but I don't think I've ever seen it proc, so no big loss there.

Plus if they increased the ammount of medals we get per game, a lot of ex-grand marshals would be HELLA pissed. (If they did, I bet we'd see a lot of posts saying things like "I played 18 hours a day for 4 weeks straight to get this weapon, now everyone and their brothers has one after 40 rounds of AV or LESS. *NERF BG REWARDS! RAWR!*")

I agree! I'm SO buying one for 8g tonight. Smiley: lol

I'm looking forward to trying to get 2 of the 1h GM swords, and at least one of the GM daggers. (maybe 2 Smiley: sly)
60-80 games of AB here I come! Woooohoo! Smiley: cry

Ps: I'll report on honor & bump tomorrow regardless of what else I post today.
I went out and killed a single 60 horde rogue today so I'm curious as to how many honor points I'll get from that.
Then tomorrow I'll go do 1 arena and report how it is and about how many honor points I get from it on monday. =3

Unfortunately, from what I hear they took all the BG's down except the arena, so I can't report on honor points gained in them =(

Honor has been completely recalculated now. You get less than 10 honor per kill.

Are you sure about Rank 11 mounts? Current ones need 75 riding skill and does not need Exalted reputation to be able to use other mounts (Yes, yes I bought them all, I was silly and now they're sitting in bank). Not sure about the Battlecharger since I didn't bother to buy one.

actually, the one that really shocks me is 30 AB marks for all the levels of the trinkets. Assuming a 50/50 win ratio (I know, way off, but blizzard seems to figure things from that stand point), this makes the lower level rewards not worth it at all in any way. I'd never spend 20 games every ten levels just to upgrade a trinket., let alone like another 100 marks to upgrade a full set of gear when I hit those levels. This is good for high end, ok for the casual, but a GIANT nerf to the rep grinders who spent the time and effort to get a high rep early so to have access to good gear for the rest of the game. Also, did anyone else notice the end game sets are gone it seems (Atleast the AB and WSG sets)?

Edit: Nvm about the full set thing...I must be really tired, because I thought the AB set was 5 pieces...

I didn't notice anything missing. I still see the leather AB set, and to the best of my knowledge, there isn't a WSG set.

I won't be able to fully rep out my twink so I have less to worry about as far as gear while leveling, but at least I can save up a fair number of tokens(and get the Silverwing Tabard early as well).

How much honor can you expect to make in a game?
Ok you said you get less than 10 a kill, does it still decrease the number of times you kill somone?
How about the bonus honor in the BG's?
Assuming I run a basic average length AV and stay in the O group the whole time how much honor can I be expected to make?
#10 Nov 26 2006 at 9:32 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, so here's the skinny.

I fought and killed a lvl60 rogue solo. It's the only pvp I did yesterday on the PTR and my honor points today are at 25.

I am 100% sure that the PvP mounts all take 150 riding skill on the PTR. I logged on and checked yesterday before I posted because I wanted to make sure my info was correct. ><

There are upgraded trinkets now, they add a little resilience and I think possibly another stat as well. Kinda nice, but you're right, I dunno if I want to spend that much on a trinket.

I'm not sure about per game I'll be testing that today.

Diminishing returns on honor is still there, but it works a little differently now. (Haven't seen it first hand but I remember reading it somewhere in official blizzard info.)

Again, I'll be testing the BG's (or at least the arena) today. I've heard that the most someone has gotten in my PTR guild in a day, was 6k honor points after a few hours of pvping.

We'll see how it goes, I'll post the exact numbers for my first BG/arena tomorrow. (dang california servers, it's 3am at my house when my stuff gets calculated. Smiley: cry)

Do you have to be exalted with AV to purchase the mount, Lobo, and everything else still? Or can you be neutral or friendly to do that?

I was just about to ask that.

If i remember correctly, most of the AB and WSG gear had a "tag" on the armor that said something along the lines of "Requires League of Arathor - Revered" on the armor, i'm really curious as to whether this will no longer be on the items, and 20 games of AB can net me a really decent piece of gear, or if i'll still have to Rep grind (200 games+) to get them.

Great link! That should give me a rough idea how long it would take to get the pvp epic sets.

I really don't expect the new pvp system to be quicker than the old pvp honor system. It just means everyone has a chance of getting the pvp items. Unlike before where you had to be No. 1 in your server just to get the epic weapons.

Of course with less emphasis on HKs and more emphasis on wins, how will that affect the gameplay? I assume there will be more races in AV (15-20 minute BGs).
#14 Nov 26 2006 at 7:05 PM Rating: Good
Just asked on the PTR forums. You do not, repeat, do not need to be exalted with any faction to gain access to all items. You can be neutral and have access to everything.

In my opinion, this is ridiculous.

Not even Town Tradespeople sell the rare and exciting armor/recipes until you are honored or higher. What point is there to get exalted now? Feeling cool?

Oh god - I spent all of last week grinding up to revered with AV, if the patch comes out in the next week or two before I can get exalted all my work was for nothing?

I didn't know they were nuking the PvP rep system, I thought it was just honor/rank :(

It seems that is a fairly common mistake people are making for some reason... not believing they will be reseting the rep system from BGs too. Don't know why people are thinking this, especially when I think blizzard themself said they would while back.
#18 Nov 27 2006 at 6:07 AM Rating: Good
Yeah, the blues have been saying for a long while now that the rep system is going to be worthless in the new system.

Basically, short of things you might already have, you can consider the new patch to be a 100% reset to PvP with everyone starting at ground zero. Anything you've done until now (again short of goodies you already own) doesn't really mean much.

I think the one exception is if you're exalted with a faction (or all factions), you get a special title you can choose to display.

Thank you.

I've been very eager to see EXACTLY this.

Well-deserved rate-up for you.

If the patch goes live this Tuesday I'll be SOOO mad. I got stuck at 4500/6000 WSG rep w/ my 19 Rogue this weekend ... just couldn't win a single game ... I want to hit Honored so I can buy ALL the rings and necks to level up with.

Aside from that, I'm SO happy about this new system. I'm eager to see how hard it is to earn said honor points... But assuming it's reasonable, this new honor system means better use of PvP time for everyone, IMO.

I seriously doubt it will come out tomorrow. It hasn't been on the PTR too long. Maybe a week from tomorrow or so.

PTR has been up 2 weeks. According to the PTR FAQ on the main WoW site, patches come out 1-2 weeks after the PTR goes up. I would say the patch is coming out tomorrow, or, because this is such a large patch, next tuesday.

Well, the Blizzard background downloader is up now, if that means anything. You could be right, I'm just guessing about the release.
#24 Nov 27 2006 at 4:34 PM Rating: Good
Awesome, thanks for posting (now that I can see them from home, hehe)!
#25 Nov 27 2006 at 7:18 PM Rating: Good
Awesome post, thanks for the info. Too bad for me that my work's internet has photobucket blocked so I'll have to check that when I get home. From what I've read here though, the new PvP system should be pretty cool..... but only if it doesn't come out tomorrow (Nov 28th). If I can just get one more week's worth of AV grinding, I can get my mount, my lobotmizer, and be happy.

Currently, I'm at 13857/21000 with AV so if the patch doesn't come out tomorrow I should definately be able to kill the rest of my way up to exalted over the course of this next weekend.

Blizzard, if you're reading this.... Please wait another week to release the new PvP system. You'll make me very happy.

kthx.

PTR has been up 2 weeks. According to the PTR FAQ on the main WoW site, patches come out 1-2 weeks after the PTR goes up. I would say the patch is coming out tomorrow, or, because this is such a large patch, next tuesday.

Well, keep in mind that just because an FAQ says something doesn't mean it is true... it could come out the last tuesday in dec for all we know. All we know for sure is that blizzard said it would be out before year's end.

Now, that being said... I actually think that now it has been up for 3 weeks, not 2. However i'm not 100% sure on that. Personally, i'm thinking it is coming out today (since it is tuesday now) because of two things:

1. They put up most of it on the downloader already to let people get a head start on it. Its going to be a HUGE patch, and they have let people get a hard start with most likely 90% or more of the patch (since the downloader had like a 400meg file on it last I looked)

2. I believe I read somewhere that the PTR has closed. Whether or not this is true or not I don't know, however I do know that when I went to transfer a char a couple days ago (got in an argument with some guildies over the patch and the changes before this thread and they wouldn't believe me so I was going to go on and take screens myself) it said that I had 0 transfers remaining (even though I never did one) so chances are the PTR is full and/or being closed soon. Well, we'll know in about 5 hours I guess when the realms go down for maint. If i'm remembering the time they are going down right of course.
