Im working on the red heart/white boxer short motif for my tauren

I've replaced all my pets. Why? Same reason one would download a coutnerstrike new-weapons pack, the old ones got boring (even the only one I had no problem with, the succubus)

I even redid the sounds for the felhunter (the felhunter now has troll female sounds and says "TazDingo!" whenever i tell it to attack something)

Also, I decided to do buttshots of every race, why?

This gives me an awesome idea for a video to shoot on my character... now I just need to go turn every non-Horde model into a Gnome (hint; my character's name is Nomepunter). Search and Replace for the win!

Good thing that there are sight restrictions in this game or this could be pretty abusable (example; Counterstrike model change that kept essentially the same models, but put a big honking sign above their head so you could locate them at any time. Kind of like wallhacking, except not) in PvP. Still, as such it's fairly entertaining...

Although you just know that someone is going to design anatomicially correct skins for the different races at some point.

Ok, first you need to download MyWarcraftStudio from http://www.curse-gaming.com/mod.php?addid=657

Once that is done, use it to open the model.mpq in your World of Warcraft/data directory, find the model you want to replace and note it's filename and find the one you want to replace it with, extract it to the data directory. Now go into your data directory, find the newly extracted file and rename it to the one you want to replace, boom now you've replaced the model (no MPQ editing required, just extracting and renaming)

Now do the same with the texture in Texture.mpq, some textures and models are in Patch.mpq (anything added after launch)

Here is where it gets tricky, some models have multiple textures for them and you cannot replace them with simple models, for example if you try to make your voidwalker (a single skin file) into Onyxia (3 skins) you will have 2/3 of your Onyxia appearing as matte white nothingness, but most regular mobs work - including naga, and ancient core hounds.

If you want to do the sounds for a pet look around in Sounds.mpq under creatures and in Speech.mpq, like I did for my succubus and felhunter (I like the high elf model succubus for some difference from the norm, she has some neat attack animations)

You can also find some cool looking items, I replaced my warrior's armor and axe with these, and shield and 1haxe

I've never seen that axe before, seen the hammer on test once, but those are actually level 10 warrior items with different graphics

This could be really useful for creating wow movies (if you are into that), if you wanted ragnaros to play a part, or have people wearing near-unobtainable super epic gear, that's the best way

Now if only I could get custom textures to have mipmaps....If I figure that out and say how you'll have 23 different nude night elf skins floating aroudn in 5 minutes I bet :P

Changing one race into another is a bit more complicated, I've done it (in the last screenshot with the night elf with the axe and hammer, that is actually a gnome), but it's not without bugs

First off, EVERY npc in the game has their own skin texture, this means if you change an orc into a troll, every single orc npc in the game will have messed up textures. Second off, your own characters will have small problems with textures, and hair colors will usually be messed up.

Basically go into a racial folder, and extract EVERYTHING keeping the file structure intact, and then you need to make batch files to rename all the files from trollXXXXXXXXXXXXX.XXX to orcXXXXXXXXXX.XXX or whatever races you are doing


To the question of items, you are probably looking for models - They are part of the characters except for capes hats and shoulders, you can change the TEXTURE of a piece of armor by looking under textures.mpq/items/

Most chest pieces have 3 textures, and most legs have 2-3

This is taking me back to my altering/editing days for The Sims 2. I think WoW should've included a bi-faction nudists' colony complete with love tubs.

Is there a way to apply armor textures to the different races using that program? That's all I'm really interested in seeing (Kind of like the Modelviewer if you played FFXI).
