Ok, trying to consolidate WowReader-related discussion here. If you have any problems, or run into any bugs, post here. If you encounter an error message that mentions error.txt, post it's contents here. If you have trouble patching, post patch.log's contents here.

Current issues:
- Occasional timeouts trying to upload.
. This is a server load-related issue that I'm working on fixing. For now, just wait a few minutes and try again.

- Blank profiles from non-english servers.
. Should be fixed now - if anyone runs into this again, let us know.

- Anything else
. I'm sure I probably missed something, so let us know.

"Profile not updating"

- Verify the Wr UI add on is loading with World of Warcraft. You can type /wver in game to confirm it's the latest version.
- Ensure you're having Wowreader upload successfully after you've logged out from the game world on the character you wish to update.
- It can take a couple minutes between a successful upload and your profile reflecting the changes.
- Stats on profile search are updated hourly, not instantly, so if your profile shows the correct stats, but search doesnt, just give it some time.

"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application."

- Fix this by installing the newest version of .net

Not an error or bug, but I think Mac users (I'm not one) are still wondering when there will be a version available to them. If it has already been answered you can go ahead and poor gasoline on this post of mine and warm everyone that might be cold.

Now that we have all of that cleared up, all we need is a Mac version =D

I haven't had any luck uploading my profile. It uploads, and appears to be working correctly, however I don't see the profile on the allakhazam site. I have entered the correct login information and I receive no error message which indicates that it is working correctly, but my character profile never shows up. Any ideas?

Mac user here. It would be fantastic to get a wowreader for us. I am really looking forward to one being developed. Is there one in the works?

Hi, I've been using Wowreader to upload my profile and other data for a few weeks now, and starting yesterday it's been crashing when I try to run it. It pops up the initial progress bar box, which disappears quickly, then nothing for a few seconds, then an error box appears:
Quote:
wowreader.exe - Common Language Runtime Debugging Services

Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.

Process id=0xefc (3836), Thread id=0x10c (268)

Click OK to terminate the application.
Click CANCEL to debug the application.

So I hit OK, and it says it saved an error log to error.txt, which contains the following:
Quote:
Unhandled exception log - 1/24/2005 11:48:31 PM
End of Stream encountered before parsing was completed.

at System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Binary.BinaryFormatter.Deserialize(Stream serializationStream, HeaderHandler handler, Boolean fCheck, IMethodCallMessage methodCallMessage)

at wowreader.MainWindow.Main(String[] args)
Microsoft Windows NT 5.1.2600.0
v1.1.4322
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\

I tried reinstalling Wowreader.exe, which causes it to run once, update itself, and starts doing this again on the next start.

Mac version: I know its being worked on, but as for when it'll be released, I don't know, sorry.

KyzokuSA: Can you try deleting the wowreader.db file and see if it helps any?

Profiles not uploading: Two things to check. First, make sure wowreader is actually set to log in under Options->Login menu. Second, make sure the in-game ui portion is still being loaded by logging into wow and typing /wver. It should say "WowReader version 1.52 loaded."

Wondered if anyone knows how to fix WoW reader when I keep getting the following error message and a failure to upload.

"Unable to read data from the transport connection".... it pops up after about 30 secs to a minute of time attempting to upload data, and WoW reader application locks up. Have yet to get the program to upload successfully, or to have a profile created. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Wowreader has been working great for me...until this morning.

It seemed to download an "update" and then promptly stopped working. So if you made changes last night (1/25), you might want to look to see if they need to be rolled back...

I’m having a problem with getting the WoWreader to work. After installing and saving I hit the run button and get the following, ‘Locate WoW Installation’ screen. In the file name block it has WoW and in the Files of type it says WoW Install Location. When I click the open button I get this message, C:\ <my path> \wow.exe does not exist. When I click OK the WoWreader loads. I entered and saved the login information. I exited WoWreader and logged into WoW and ran the WoWreader and got the same messages as before and the reader’s main screen pops up. When I hit upload I get the following, “An unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click quit, the application will be shut down immediately. Object reference not set to an instance of an object.” I checked the saved login info and found my password had many more characters added to it. I’ve uninstalled and re-installed the WoWreader in an attempt to correct the problem but to no avail. I’m using windows XP.

Yup, either that fixed it or the latest patch did, both happened at the same time.

Justsharp: At that dialog, you have to browse to the directory that WoW is installed in and select wow.exe. You can just choose location under the file menu to bring it back and set it correctly.

I installed WowReader today and get the following message when trying to Upload:

Connection error: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

Anyone else get that error? I entered the correct login name and password.

Foooo: I get that too when the application actually doesn't hang. Not sure what the problem is yet. It was working just fine until it downloaded some sort of update yesterday. Now it's all screwy and I get intermittent wr.lua errors when using the AH. :|

WoWReader is not updating my profile either. I've verified that I'm using version 1.52 via /wver in-game.

I've tried:
  • Removed wowreader.db file. Logged in/out. "Connected..." (hung). .db file did not repopulate.
  • Uninstalled and reinstalled with new installer. Logged in/out, uploaded. Timed out or hung.
  • Removed .db file again.
  • WoWReader looked to have uploaded, but did not post.
  • I reloaded WoW, logged in and then out and rescanned. Still nothing.

  • Any other tricks up anyone's sleeve?

It's been working fine for me until last night. Now, like so many others, it hangs/times out.
