I’ve been trying to decide the same thing for my hunter alt. I finally decided to go dwarf because I just don’t really care for the looks of the night elves. I’ve always been a fan of elven races in other MMORPGs, but to me the night elves just look silly. I’ve tried to get used to them, but its turning out to be a very slow process. If I play an alliance druid I’ll have to play one, but until then I think I’ll have to pass on that race.

So I’d suggest going with whatever race looks best to you. If you need a deciding factor, consider the type of ranged weapon you like best. To me, elves look more natural using a bow and dwarves seem to prefer guns.
