I’m not certain if it’s the same with warriors, but if you want to play a class that allows you to use some strategy I’d recommend the rogue. I played my rogue to level 21 during the open beta and I’m still trying to wrap my head around how to play him to best advantage.
As you level you get different combat moves. One of the first skills you get builds up energy for a special attack. You can build up that energy from one to five points. But each time you do so you use up energy from your energy bar, so you have to wait until you have enough energy to build up more points. But it’s kind of its own little game. If you wait too long, trying to build up to a full five points of energy for that amazing special attack, the fight may be over before you can actually use that attack. So maybe it’s better to do that attack after building up two points of energy instead of five.
Now, add to that other types of attacks you learn which themselves will give you energy points. For example, if I us my stun attack, that will give me one point. I jump behind my opponent and use backstab. That gives me a second point. This allows me to immediately use a two point slice and dice attack against my opponent.
Now, add talents to this which will allow you to specialize in different types of attack styles and you have a fairly complex system from which to create your own combat style.
I apologize if that was more confusing than informative. Like I said, I’m still trying to figure it all out. All I can say with any certainty is that playing a rogue has proven to be anything but boring.
