Best race for WarriorFollow

#1 Nov 21 2004 at 4:03 PM Rating: Decent
I played the stress test and open beta for W.O.W and played every race with every class. I enjoy warrior because of the armor and tanking. I was thinking Tauren is best cause they are so huge but i liked my orc too. Dwarf warrior was also fun to play cause they are short and stocky and drink beer.

Any suggestions on which race looks best as warrior and which is best considering racial abilities?

What ever race a warrior can be is a good race for a warrior.

EDIT:look is a personal preferance, no one can choose that for you.
And abilities, all races have an ability that you can benifit from.

Well, which looks the best is relative to which class/style you like.

No race makes the best Warrior as the gear found/made will negate most of the benefits you get from racial abilities, after about 10-15th lvl racial benefits impact your character very little.

BUT from a PVP standpoint, the smaller the better when it comes to being targetted by the opposing team. Sure that Tauran looks impressive in his armor, but is so easy to target it is laughable.
BUT (yes another one), from the support class point of view in Raid situations, easier to target is better when trying to fling heals about to keep the tanks alive.

So once again, it is all about which you prefer.

Taurens. They get a health bonus, have the most strength and stamina, and have nature resistance which will help stop root snares.

My recommendation to everyone is don't play what seems to be the best (because there really isn't), but play what race you like.

To argue korup.

Orcs have bloodlust, axe spec, and resistance to stuns.

Trolls have regen, beast slaying, and berserk

undead have will of forsaken, underwater breathing, canibalize, and shadow resist.

Theyre all good to some extent.

I love my Tauren to death, but he's so damn huge I can't see what's in front of me sometimes. Zooming in while inside an instance, and I easily lose like 30% of my screen because he blocks a huge portion of it.

Adding to Vamp's list:

Horde:

Tauren have War Stomp (nice little stun)

Alliance:

Humans have bonus to Sword and Mace

Elves have 1% bonus to Dodge (and wisp-form after death, but dont get me started on this one).

Gnomes have Escape Artist

Dwarves have Gun Bonus and StoneForm.

I agree with whoever said no race is really the best. I'll be going Dwarf though, being short made it seem like I was running faster and I hate gnome warriors...

You won't have to deal with elitists from FFXI that will put others down for not choosing the very best of the best (like a taru warrior or galka mage), because the differences in race diminisses(spelling?) as you move up the levels.

You forgot humans have higher detection of stealh, so its harder for rogues to sneak up on you sometimes.

Elves get shadowmeld which is invaluable in most instances.

Gnomes get engineering bonuses for those neet little tricks you can pull off.

and dwarves cold resistance is great for those pesky mage shots.

I’ll add my voice to those who suggest to simply pick the race that you like best. If you look over the racial bonuses, you’ll find that overall they are very small. Bonuses that add to weapon skills, for example, are just a plus five bonus. Abilities like escape artist have long cast times and long cool downs. The abilities are not useless, but they are designed to add flavor to the various races, not to make them super strong.

Everyone is going to feel differently about what race works well for their class. I plan to play just about every class as time goes by, so I’ll use myself as an example. Some classes I want to be able to identify with better so for the paladin, rogue and warrior, I’ll be playing humans. For the priest I like the dwarven race best. For druid I like the tauren. For mage I really enjoyed my dwarf mage, but since that option has been removed I’ll most likely go gnome. For a hunter I’m torn between dwarf and taurne, but I’ll probably go dwarf. I’ve made all these decisions based upon how I feel about my character, without taking stats into consideration whatsoever.

So go with what feels right. If you feel like playing an orc then go for it. If Native American Indian culture is more interesting to you, go tauren. If you’d prefer to relate to your character a bit more strongly, perhaps human is the way to go. If you’d prefer to laugh in the face of most other players, play a gnome and sling insults right back at the overgrown freaks. *grins* To sum it all up; pick a race you can have fun with.
