Thanx alot masterjam, i would definitly use this if I wasnt content with the name I already have. I got Vicond from the name generator on FFXI :-) Had it for awhile now, and not planning to change it anytime soon.

Fergus:

Irish, the name of several legendary characters. This one needed 7 women to satisfy him when his wife was away.

Hmm... I think I feel a new name coming on...

None of those sites really help naming an orc though. I had the hardest time trying to name an Orc, so I just picked a Japanese name I used to use back when I liked anime. I don't really want to use that name anymore though, so I was wondering if any of you could help me, if not thats cool too.

It'd be alot easier if I could use an apostrophie,... but last I heard we cant... Orcs are tough, lol...

Seriously I racked my brain for a name all I could think of was Grom. My friend just yelled at me and told me to use my old name.
I wanted to play on the PVP/RP server and I heard they are going to be tough on names, so I wanted an orcish name.

I have this link for some orcish names...(tolkien styles and warhammer styles). I think it can do the job.

I think Orcs are the easiest of the races to name (next to humans of course). Basically go with sounds that use the back of the throat...Grok, Haagrol, Vok, Morgrom, Vraag, Vrugdok. Klingon names work really well too...Mog, Lursa, Betor (those wouldn't make it through, just using them as an example of the sound you want).

Night Elves are fun to name too. Instead of the boring old elvish style names you see all over fantasy, I prefer Hawaiin words...Pikake, Mahina, Kioke, Kahikole. Those would conceivably be used for Troll names too.

I am fairly dissapointed with the naming policy they have going.

Keep in mind, people, only 9 characters are allowed (no spaces)

the good thing I found was that they DO allow special characters...although some people -who don't know how to use the interface to their advantage- find it difficult to communicate with those using special characters.
And by "special characters" I mean all those ALT+#### things you can create.

examples: è æ ñ ç ¥

BTW, this was true throughout Beta. I'm unsure whether or not it applies to retail.

I do hope they allow more characters for retail though :( I want to fit surnames.

More then 9 characters are allowed. I had a character named Deliverance. I'm pretty sure it's 16 characters.

oh yes, sorry. The maximum is 11 characters. (we both need to check our basic counting skills)

and I did the random name generator thing...I think mine was broken. Cuz the names SUCKED.

Do you have a name site that can make mintotaur names? I'm not really sure what to do for my tauren.

The random name generator was the weakest part of WoW in my experience. The names were not sorted by race (so your orc would generate elvish sounding names, human names, etc) and it didnt even seem to distinguish between male and female names.

Might I suggest looking up Native American Indian names? Though I’ll be playing alliance for most of my early months in WoW, I like the tauren culture best of all the races. It has very strong Indian cultural roots and I’ve always been fascinated by that culture.

I just found an interesting naming source: http://www.hisurf.com/hawaiian/names.html

Just type in a name or a word and you’ll get a translation.
