Shaman vs/ Priest mana totalsFollow

#1 Nov 19 2004 at 12:40 PM Rating: Decent
I only got to play the beta for like 3 days before it closed so I need a little help here. I'm debating over shaman and priest and they both look really good to me. However, the starting mana for some priests is almost double that of shamans. I wanted to know, is the mana gap still that big at higher level? The high level healing spells are about proportionate to the amount of mana spent to cast them with both classes, but the priests are MUCH bigger. If the priest is always going to have twice the mana of a shaman then I'm going to have to go priest.

Thanks in advance!

I don't really have a answer to your question dirrectly, but Shaman in this game are like Paladins for the allaince. They help heal the group, but usually aren't the main healers, but instead help with damage and tanking. I tanked most of the mobs for my instance groups and healed when needed.

The priest on the otherhand has a lot more heals and some instant cast heals. He also has some nice buffs for the group. Priest will be the main healer in your group if you can find one to do so heh. I usually end up with a druid instead because there aren't a lot of priests around.

Priests are intended to be the healers. Shamans are not. However shamans CAN be the healers easily.

And mana pools are largely determined by your gear. The more int you have, the more mana. A naked priest *might* have more mana than a naked shaman, but that base mana pool is less than half of what you will have, once you start getting "real" equipment. I've known paladins that had more mana than my priest, so I'm betting there were many more shamans that did.

Just for comparison, I had a level 18 priest with ~980 Mps. Without my Int Gear I had about 700.
