How long will it last?Follow

I can't wait until WoW is released, it looks like an AMAZING game and everything I've heard about it sounds great.

One of the major things I've heard and is appealing to me very much is how it doesn't take forever to do things (unlike in FFXI). I've read in several places that you can log on for 30 minutes and actually have a sense of accomplishment. THIS is probably the number 1 thing I'm looking forward to.

My question is this: if you can solo at will, gain EXP nice and quickly, and get to lvl 10 in 4 hours (so I've read), which are all good things mind you, how long will it take to get lvl 60? And once you have, is starting a new job your only option for new adventures?

I'm sure Blizzard has implemented late game activities, and I haven't heard much about em cause not many people will be high level in the betas. But I'm just wondering if anyone knew how the game will play out in late game.

I think the beginning will be awesome, where players can easily learn the game, get immediately engulfed in the world of Azeroth, and basically be a noobie-friendly experience. I'm just hoping that Blizzard has incorporated mid-to-late game challenges, and that there is lots to do when you've reached 60.

If you aren't playing a lot it will take you a while to reach level 60. Especially if you work on tradeskills, explore the world, and do all the quests you can.

Some people will just grind to 60, get bored, and probably go play EQ2 because well if you like grinding for hours on end then I think thats the game for you.

Blizzard has already stated that they are expecting many to get to the higher lvls relatively quickly and that the bulk of the game is built around those higher levels.

There will be plenty to do at higher levels. Perhaps they realize that for many people (not myself though), the mindset is to level as quickly as possible to get to the "fun" part of the game, so they have intentionally made progression easier than in most games and have plans for masses of high level players.

Someday soon (I'm thinking the first expansion) they will introduce the Hero classes.

As a person who was in Stress Test 1 & 2 I played two totally different factions during them.

Stres Test 1 I was a Tauren Shaman, and I loved it. It was great to explore Muglore and Thunderbluff wow... it was pretty. And the barrens with the crazy unicron zebra's and seeing other races. I loved it. Couldn't imagine being anything but Tauren.

Stress Test 2 I decided to try an elf, made a Night Elf Hunter. Loved it, so much I couldn't believe I'd love it as much as shaman.

I think this game will be great to try all the races, and classes without feeling as if I am losing out or repeating what I have already done. In FFXI you are usually doing the same quest, its the same story, just different races, and starting points. In FFXI when I played I just couldnt be another job without feling as if I was losing out time for lvling my new job, it was so redundant to lvl another job. That is not the same for me when I play WoW.

Before I played FFXI, I used to play these things called MUD's. Well it was just one actually called the Forsaken Lands.

Anywho, in this particular MUD 50 was the level cap, but it took a fair amount of will power just to make it there. In fact, I played that game for almost 2 years (off and on) and only got one character to the cap.

The point is, the game didn't start 'til 50. You really had no idea what the game was about until you capped. There was restricted pvp all through the game, but once you hit 50 it was an all out free-for-all. Cabal's (kind of like guilds) became something you'd want to join, Hero classes were available if you wanted to start you character over again at level 1, and the games storylines actually changed with who's character or cabal was dominant at that time. It was a totally different game when you reached the cap, and it really became fun.

WoW seems to me to be very similar to this, and this is partially why I'm so looking forward to this game. Blizzard also seems to have taken some steps into making it easier to reach cap, which would have been one of my only complaints against my old MUD.

Much in the same way as Forsaken Lands kept me interested for 2 years, I can see WoW doing the same. It's my opinion that the high-end content of this game, judging solely from experiences with other games, might turn out to be the best in the business, and the benchmark for future MMO's. I look forward to checking it out.
