Everquest 2 discusts meFollow

Okay I am trying to give the game a chance with WoW gone, but it's killing me.

All I hear from people is there are so many quests, but I can't find any worthwhile to do quests after the newbie armor quests.

So what happens next is I leave the city and grind to level 8 at about 1% exp per kill "rediculous for such an early level". Even EQ1 didn't stoop so low as to make leveling such a grind at early levels.

So I then go complete the quest to become a "crusader" and finish it, but I have to wait until level 10 to actually become one officially.

So back to the grind of 1% per kill not to mention all the "linked" mobs (what a lame idea to link mobs like that BTW). Anyway I get killed and and with exp dept I am not even getting 1% pet kill.

Okay so I consider myself a hardcore gamer, but this is wear I draw the line. I wont waste hours just to level up early on in the game. I also feel this game is even more group base then the previous EQ with the linked mobs which make the game world feel fake anyway.

Anyway thats my rant. I may just be in a bad mood, but the game really got to me tonight. The thing is I really want to play the game just to get my character to 15 and do the quest to change sides and make a dark elf paladin, but I don't think I can even make 15 levels in this game and keep my sanity.

While I can't say I will play tons of EQ2, I don't hate it, I just realize it is not the type of MMO I've come to like. MMOs seem to be splitting into two directions. You have the "old standard" level grind, raw drops, involved quests, grouping biased. FFXI, EQ2, Lineage 2 come to mind. And the newer "Quicker instant" Fast leveling, encouraged alt play less dependence on groups, WoW and CoH being the two that come to mind. People bad mouth the staying power of WoW and CoH just like people say how dull FFXI or EQ2 is. Or complain about the lack of community or the dependence on groups creating an artificial community.

I think neither are bad and I believe both will be around for quite a while. But if you become accustomed to playing one type the other can seem disgusting or out of order. Of course the good thing about there now being multiple styles people have choices.

Just look at it this way, their is no such thing as an MMO for everyone.

Personally if you were really getting 1% xp per kill (as in 100 kills needed to level) then all I have to say is, MY GOD WHAT A MIND NUMB!!!

I leveled 2 characters to level 60+ without any help from others PLing in EQ1 and the worst part by far was the 50-60. For me it already feels like that at level 8 and 9. I was getting just over 1% per kill of exp. I'd say at the rate I was going I'd be lucky to get one level per day and I'd think that as things go on it would be one week per level and perhaps even a few weeks per level near the end. Maybe I'm just not interested in that anymore.

I also am getting the feeling that the world (despite it's nice graphics) doesn't feel real. The combat locks you in and you are always facing your target. You don't feel the freedom like in EQ1 or WoW where you can move around as you want to and being able to see which mobs with assist eachother during combat makes it seem like they are one mob instead of multiple mobs.

Anway I'm sure there are lots of people who will love to spend hours grinding the exp, but I've had enough of SOE.

You know it actually kind of sounds like they don't have any end game content and so they made it a slow grind to give them time to get it in.

Though personally I don't know anything else about EQ2 except that the graphics are nice from those that want more realistic, and their classes are done in tier form.

I would rather step on a broken coke bottle, with my wang, than play EQ2 again.

Yeah i had a 65 bst and 60 Cleric on EQ1 so im not new to grinding. But i DO NOT want that same kind of grind for a newb character...makes me fear later levels. But thats ok cuz i will have WoW soon =) *dusts off warcraft 3 cd's* and these will keep me company for the next week lol.

if u think the grind for EQ2 is bad u should definitely try Lineage2. The grind in that game is even worst. You only get like .1% in the lower lvls. THe only times it's fast is your first lvl after that it's just downhill from there. The time it took me to get from lvl 20 to lvl 30 in that game was about a month and that's playing constantly.
