What is there to do after the grind is over?Follow

I'm alsking this because I'm looking for an MMO that offers longevity. I've been an MMO player for about 2 years and I love the potential of the genre, but I've seen too many MMO's where there is honestly nothing really to do once you ding that final level.

I'm not a powergamer who will level as fast as I can while skipping all the content, but on the flip side it's nice to have a reason to log on "after the grind"

So I ask any and all beta testers....what is the main thing that will keep you playing once your character has reached the final level (besides rolling a new toon)?

Have you played WoW yet

Lvling itself Is not remotely grinding

But after you have "dinged" that final lvl you still have to kill arthas and illidan

And there is the "hint" that there are going to be Hero levels!

For me, WOW is striaght out a fun game! I have tried almost 1/2 of the class/race combos, and I have yet to have an unenjoyable gaming experience.

I too am not a powergamer, but I have found hours and hours of fun in WOW. For a non-power gamner, I'd estimate a good 8 - 12 months of content are currently available in the game (on a single toon).

IMHO, it's worth the costs - no real "grind" feeling, and always something fun to do.

Have you heard of raids?

getting to the max lvl is the first goal, after that it is raid central. Raiding is what makes a MMO imho. The teir structure and progression is a ton of fun.
grinding to max lvl is the suck part, life doesnt get good until you raid at max lvl.

After the "grind", which there isn't any in WoW, since you get exp as you quest...

There are:

Raids
Battlegrounds
Instances
Hero Classes

Also... you can have up to 50 characters, so you are free to experiment with other classes and races as well.

If you've reached "end game" as a Horde member, start a char on another server and try out Alliance. Not only will you be playing a new class, but you'll also be experiencing a whole new side of the world and different content :).

I plan on taking advantage of the character limit and making quite a few ... but that's part of the fun for me with MMO's... I like to experience all the different classes of the game.

If that's not your cup of tea, and you only want the one character, like others mentioned before, Raids are huge supposedly and instances, PvP, etc.

It doesn't sound to me like there's a shortage of things to do.

All games are gonna have something late game. The main draw in PvE oriented play is raiding and 'phat lewt'.

Blizzard has a knack for taking normal ideas and perfecting them, so I expect the raids in WoW will be unique and fun, while at the same time providing a challenge
/fanboi off.

Plus the addition of hero classes (assuming it happens which I think it will) will be an awesome way to further customize your character, and another challenge to look forward to.

Other than that, the idea that I can storm Ogrimmar (sp?) and kill Thrall the leader of the orcs.... DAMN that's sweet!

And I must agree that as far as I got in WoW (lvl 22) it was not a grind at all.

/Agree, the consensus here answers your question. Longevity will not be a problem for WoW. I anxiously await Tuesday Morning November 23, 2004 as though it were Christmas and I was a little boy again. The Open Beta went fairly well (other then the few days the item database was lagging severely).
