I would hope that the servers won't end up forever being labeled with a number. So I just wondered has anyone heard any word on what the servers will be named? If no word has been said yet then what do you think the servers will be named?

I see them being named after important places, because I haven't heard any word on it.

I could be mistaken, but I thought they were intending to name them after major figures in Warcraft lore. I seem to remember hearing something about a Sargeras server at one point, although maybe that was just the names in stress test.

Sorry for the mix up then, I think the line also gets used in a comic I read when a robot puts on a "Man Suit" to look human, and another robot uses that line on him.

I'd rather have the cities. At least those I recognize. I've never played any of the other Warcraft games, so the names have no meaning to me. Smiley: grin

I think they should name them after FFXI figures...I mean, it seems so many people want WoW to be FFXI II...that might appease them a bit. ;-)

In the original server test they had the servers named after some of the Titans or the other creator races. Names like Norgannon and Sargeras were there. I believe some servers even had dragon names on there too such as Alexstraza.

I dont think they will use actual NPC names like Arthas or Sylvannas.

Yeah cause if they take the names of any thing FF related Square Enix won't shove a law suit so far up their butts they will taste it :p

So twue, besides, it contains the most relavent lore about WoW.

Going to Mount Hyjal just wouldn't have the same effect if you didn't.

I figure they'll be called servers *rimshot* I'll be here all night.

They could take all the names from Final Fantasy and there'd actually be nothing Square Enix could do because NONE OF THEIR NAMES ARE ORIGINAL they're all ripped off from some mythology or religion or literature.

It would be Donnie Darko.

Not trying to be a little b****, but that is possibly my favorite movie of all time and that hurts me inside.

<3

EDIT: I really hope they do come up with creative names. Anybody know how it will work out with getting into specific servers. Is there a list to choose from or a random selection similar to ffxi? I saw the 50 characters max thing for multiple servers, so I assume you have some disgresion...

Ya i've been a long time WC fan. The only one I haven't beaten was the expansion to WC3. Can't find my CD's any where so I think I might borrow a friends copy to pass the weekend if need be.

On one side, I wouldn't care what they called the servers. They could name one of them "hcjdgvidzgl34" and I wouldn't mind.

But on the other hand, a server name is kind of important. It kind of represents the mentality behind the player on the server. And along with that comes a common lore about certain servers and their players. I hate to do this, but take EQ for example. A lot of the Cazic-Thule and Innoruuk people took some flak about thier server being filled with Evil miscreants that KS and shout profanities all day. This was partially true back at launch. The names of two key evil people in the EQ universe being used for server names attracted some players of questionable character.

I can't say the same for FFXI. We didn't have a choice. In a way, this was a good idea (because who the hell would want to join a server called "Fairy"?)

A cool name will mean a lot as well. I would much rather be a part of a server called "Excalibur" than one called "Broken Wooden Quarterstaff".

I say this with complete honesty. If I had a choice between Excalibur and Broken Wooden Staff, I'd definitely go with the staff. No question about it (unless Excalibur is PvP and Staff is RP, in which case I would choose Excalibur).

I dont think you should have to Play Wc3 in the least. Wc3 doesnt even give 1/2 the story of Azeroth. How about you read This It has alot more Info than Wc3 and doesnt cost $40 and besides. when somone starts yelling at you in leet speak about how you arent cool enough to play because you havnt even played Wc3 you can either /ignore them, OR explain to them how much more you know than them, (As I'd bet money that they've ONLY played Wc3, and dont know crap other than what is in that srotyline)

Edit: so I'm on topic here... Most likely places or Names of historical figures. I can imagine a Azshara, Mannaroth, Tyrande, Dragon names... maybe Lothar, or Ner'zhul, or Grom. hehe I'd like to see Clan names/National names but I doubt We'd get those.
