hey word to all my fellow mmorpg'ers......
currently playin XI, but see myself getting HELLA CRAZY BORED with the game in about 2 months, since it slows down SOO much at higher levels....and gil makes me cry.

ffxi vs. wow aside.....
I'll probably get the game sometime around January, give or take depending on what i feel like.
So, I'll ask again later but my main questions are....
1) Would it be completely stupid to use a controller in this game? I really hate usin the KB and use a dual shock 2 controller for xi
2)What is the monthly fee? I heard about 15....
3) What would be the best character for PvP purpouses(VERY excited about this part of the game <===|m|^_^|m|===> (<that's me dual weilding pwnage swords)

1. As far as I know WoW doesn't support controllers

2. 1st month free, then 14.95 each month after if I remember right. Also no additional fees for other characters and they also have pricing plans where you do something like pay for three months at a time for 13.95 a month or 6 at 12.95 a month.

3. I don't think one job will far outshine others in PvP as far as damage goes. Though I hear Shamans (I think) kick everyone's asses for PvP... Time will be a learner for that one. Oh and as far as I know your limited to the job you pick when you first make the character. FFXI gets away with charging the extra buck for extra characters by the job swap. Games like WoW and EQ/EQ2 where you have to have new characters for new jobs could make a fortune if they did that, but would loose a lot of people imo.

Well I remember reading somewhere on here about how there is a 3rd party program that will take gamepad/controller input and turn it into keyboard input, allowing you to use the controller. I didn't bookmark the link or anything since the keyboard set-up is supposed to be 100% customizable so we shouldn't have too much trouble with it >.>

Also FFXI is so much better with a controller because it was a port from the PS2 to PC for the first NA release.

WoW and FFXI are going to be two totally different games. I'm sure your fed up with the gil sellers and other things like needing certain well camped/high price items to level. WoW is really seeming to fight all that. Lots of the best items bind to you (think rare/ex from FFXI) when you use them and some even when you obtain them so item selling will be hard.

Wish I could offer something more comforting about gold selling though, since money is very easy to make in this game from selling things to NPCs you may have to contend with gold sellers farming mobs you want to farm/exp off of. At least you don't really need much gold to get good equipment, as like I said, most of the good things bind to you.

WoW is setup to be used with a keyboard and FFXI really was not. This is probably why you prefered using the controller. In WoW the mouse is actually visible (and thus, a viable tool for selecting targets) and you don't have to navigate menus. The mouse is actually such an integral part of the interface that I can't see you having much success without it.

As far as gold sellers go. Since money is so much easier to make, it could be entirely possible that the big time would be gold sellers would just be too starved for profits to bother trying to farm the money. From my experience with the game so far, it seems like the only things you would possibly want to farm money for would be your lvl 40 and 60 mounts. Plus I have faith that Blizzard will know how to stand up to those bastards who would ruin our game in order to make a profit and ban them as fast as they can find them.

1) Keyboard and mouse will be your great friends. Learn to love them and they'll love you back.

2) 15 bucks will be the cost. I heard there will be 30 game cards but I have yet to see official info on that.

3) The game focuses on party v party combat. To balance things out, Blizzard implemented a "rock, paper, scissors" model for pvp. While I'm not sure what beats what, there are 3 class types: Melee, Caster and hybrid. Not sure how hunter fits in this so I'll put it with the caster group. I'm not too sure if weakness is determined through class type or class, Blizzard want players to actually help each other in the battlefield instead of going solo.

Just want to say that controllers are a viable option for WoW. I've been using a Nostromo N52 pad and mouse in the open Beta with no problems (I still use a keyboard for chat channels, but almost everything else can be programmed to a controller button). I've also gotten an old thrustmaster gamepad to work, and things have been running smoothely with that too. However, the mouse is still the most versatile input device for the game, as a lot of things can be done quickest with point and click, and you will still need a keyboard in order to chat. Aside from that, it's up to you.
