When I first started looking into WoW I wanted to be a Night Elf Hunter. So when got into beta, that was the first thing I tried. Got it to level 12 and thought I'd try out some of the other races and classes.

Also wanted to get a look at the rest of the world.

This is what I've played around with:

Human Paladin
Human Rogue
Dwarf Warrior
Dwarf Hunter
Night Elf Druid
Tauren Warrior
Orc Hunter

I loved the Night Elf Hunter, but then found I liked the Dwarf Hunter too, and I like the Tauren area so thought a Tauren Hunter would be cool.

I'm so confused on what I want to do come retail. Smiley: lol

So how many of you have changed your minds on what you want to be come retail?

Ive tried every class out there, but not with every race, thats too hard.

Originally I wanted to be a troll rogue, and I am, but I also have recently decided to go with an orc hunter, and undead warlock, an undead mage, a tauren shaman, a tauren druid...My does time fly.

I started off thinking about Night Elf Druid. Tried it, enjoyed it. Then I went and tried Tauren Shaman, and had tons of fun. Next came Night Elf Hunter which is just as fun as a Tauren Shaman. I tried all the other classes and races, but probably not all race/class combos.

I am thinking in retail I will play two characters, Night Elf hunter and also a Tauren shaman.

Hope to see you guys around.

I often change my mind when playing MMO's, but WoW is the exception.

I played around with in this order:

Night Elf Hunter - 10
Tauren Druid - 10
Undead Rogue - 10
Gnome Mage - 9
Human Paladin - 4
Orc Warlock - 5
Troll Shaman - 5
Orc Warrior - 7
Night Elf Druid - 15

Night Elf is my favorite race by far, mainly just because I like the forward flips that go off every 3 or 4 jumps or so ^^.

I pretty much thought I wanted to try Druid, and that's definitely the class I'm going to play on PVP server when retail comes. I guess I got lucky this time around.

I was interested in the Night Elves at first. Of course I have always been interested in playing the dwarves and orcs. Tried the undead, humans, orcs, night elves, and dwarves. Right now I think I will stick with the orcs and dwarves.

I have settled on three characters for retail:
1.) Tauren Druid (18)
2.) Dwarf Paladin (10)
3.) Undead Mage (12)

Whatever I play will be a Night Elf or a Human most likely. That's just my racial disposition.

Class, I dunno. I don't plan on playing just one character, but I'm not sure where I stand on each class. I have primarily played priest, and I might because I generally appreciate the role of healer, but I might reconsider. Some classes are fun, some are but aren't my thing, and some I just plain don't like. I could see myself playing as a priest, paladin, hunter, or shaman (Tauren).

Did you consider any other *classes*, seoman, or just races? Seems like your top 3 picks are all hunters.

I always liked night elf, and I will, come retail be a Night Elf Druid.

After that I'm going Horde Warlock although I'm not sure of the race yet...
#9 Nov 15 2004 at 1:29 AM Rating: Decent
Night Elve Rogue - 16
Dwarf Priest - 7
Gnome Mage - 3
Dwarf Hunter - 2

Tried them all, and gonna stick with the Rogue as my main guy at the start. But man, Priest was actually pretty fun the first 7 levels so far. Havent had much time to play, important things keep on popping up like school and work =)

I'll definitely be a Night Elf Hunter in retail, and a Gnome Rogue. I have a tendancy to hop characters and classes a lot, however, so I'm sure I'll end up with many, many more :)

Haven't even try to figure out what's my next character since I'm busying playing with my Night Elf Rogue. "Stealth Initiated"

Just fyi, I don't think, and most of the CB players tend to agree, that you don't know squat about a class until you at least learn their level 10 abilities. For most classes, they have a few of their most trademark abilities by then, whereas playing one to only level 5 doesn't really tell you a lot most of the time. I tried playing a new paladin last night because I was clueless how to play my old one, and it was painfully boring - I had to go back to my level 42 to try to give myself the tutorial because I couldn't stand it.

I have tried many characters... I still love Undead Rogue, but I heard Troll Rogue is suppose to be the best race for a Rogue, and I do want to be the best race/class for what class I want to be. So, I am not sure, but I still think I am going Undead.

Anyways, these are my characters.

Reggad - Level 23 Undead Rogue
Gustaph - Level 10 Undead Mage
Hurm - Level 10 Tauren Druid
Daednu - Level 10 Undead Warrior

Undead Mage was really fun, but I still like Rogue more.

At level 20, I did the quest for poisons, damn it was so long, and fun, and, then I got poisons! I was so damn happy.

I love the Hunter class. Smiley: grin

I've never been a big fan of mage classes, more of a melee player.

I like Rogue alot. Warrior is always good. I tried Paladin, wasn't liking it much at first.

I agree, that you need you to get to around lvl 10 to really start appreciating a class. That goes for any MMO, not just WoW.

I'll probably do Paladin some more, see if my first impression was right.

I'll try Warlock and Mage before retail.

Main character will definately be a Hunter, race undecided.

(I'm leaning more towards Dwarf, just cause I love Dun Morogh)

I seem to change my mind on a daily basis. I have yet to find a class that isnt fun.

It's crazy.

Well, I originally made a Dwarf Priest...because that is my main on EQ and I wanted to compare...much to the distaste of the "you cannot compare them" crowd on this forum, I am sure. :-)

I like the Dwarf priest...and I think Ironforge is the coolest city in the game. Got him to level 12.

I then moved to Undead Warlock. I liked playing this class a lot. Got him to level 13.

The above I tried in the stress test.

For open beta...

Moved to human Pally. I always avoided human chars on EQ. I like the humans in WoW. Very good race to play. Good starting zones. The Pally is pretty good. Well balanced. He can tank pretty good and has lots of good support spells. He is level 15 and counting.

I made a Night Elf druid which I got to level 12. I like him a lot too. Very fun to play, and I really like the way you turn to a melee class when in bear form rather than just a druid in bear skin. very nice. Night Elves are very cool and some very fun quests and starting areas.

OK, so these two characters above I am enjoying...so i may not have given the ones below a fair chance, but I kept coming back to the Druid and Pally. Note, I have not disliked any character just preferred some over others:

Orc/Warrior - Was ok. Not my style obviously.

Troll/Mage - Again, was ok. Did not hold my attention. Maybe because the starting zone and quests were the exact ones I had just done with the above mentioned orc.

Gnome Mage - Fun because of how they look. I did this with my youngest daughter so we made a little girl...cotten candy pink hair...looked like a cupie doll. For the looks alone was a novelty...but I don't know, two mages aqnd neither one seemed to interest me.

Then...when my server was down (and up and down and up) over the weekend, I got into another server that wasmore stable (and that is relative...lol) and made a Tauren Hunter. I like him a lot. I am having fun with this guy.

I have not played a rogue at all. never liked them in EQ, but this is a case of do not compare, I am sure. The WoW rogue seems much more fun than the EQ rogue.

So, I have to say that come retail I will be on a Human Pally, Night Elf Druid, Tauren Hunter, Dwarf Priest and undead Warlock...in that order I think.

I was set I was going to be an Alliance character. Since then I have completely changed my mind and am now going to play a Horde character. Right now I have a Troll rogue, a Tauren warrior, an Orc hunter, and a Undead mage.

During Stress Test #2, my wife and I played on the East Coast Test 2 (PvE) server. I played the following:

Dwarf Paladin - level 10
Gnome Mage - level 10
Night Elf Rogue - level 10
Dwarf Hunter - 2
Night Elf Hunter - level 5
Human Priest - level 4
Undead Warlock - level 4

We switched over to the East Coast RP (PvE) server, Test 35, and tried some new things:

Night Elf Druid - level 12
Tauren Hunter - level 5
Human Priest - level 5
Dwarf Paladin - level 1
Gnome Mage - level 1
Gnome Rogue - level 1
Dwarf Hunter - level 3
Orc Warrior - level 1
Troll Shaman - level 1

Up until the release, we're mainly focusing on our level 12 Night Elves (wife plays a Hunter) and see how far we get. Upon release, we'll take a break from our Night Elves as they will most likely do a wipe of all open beta characters for release and I'm sure everyone will agree redoing the same quests again so soon can be a drag. After spending time working on our primary Dwarf combo (my Paladin/her Hunter), we'll work on the Night Elves again.

As mentioned, my Dwarf Paladin and her Dwarf Hunter will be our mains, our secondaries will be our Night Elf Druid and Hunter (she loves the Hunter!), and our third alts will probably be either my Gnome Mage and her Gnome Warlock or our two Gnome Rogues.

We tried the Taurens (my Hunter/her Shaman) but it didn't really suit us - the area was pretty but rather dull for us. I do plan on trying out the Orc and Troll just to see the areas, but we're going primarily with Alliance.

Before beta even started some of my friends organized a guild. For that reason, I knew before I ever looked at the game's official site that I was limited to Horde if I wanted to join in. To my delight, Tauren were included among the Horde's races. Given all that my initial thoughts were either Tauren Hunter or Tauren Shaman.

Since then I have tried:
Tauren Hunter
Tauren Shaman
Orc Rogue
Undead Rogue
Tauren Warrior
Dwarf Paladin
Night Elf Hunter
Undead Warlock

Turns out my first impression was the right one for me: I will be playing a Tauren Hunter as my main and a Tauren Shaman alt. Still, I have to say that everything I've tried was enough fun to be playable.

at first i wanted to be an undead warlock, but seeing how this game is going to be flooded with them i decided to go with a Gnome warlock

but from out of nowhere, i have the urge to be a human priest, with my gnome warlock being my alt with a troll hunter being my horde backproject

This is precisely why you can have up to eight characters on one account. Play them all!
#26 Nov 17 2004 at 8:07 AM Rating: Decent
Lol. I feel the exact way as the original poster. I started off as an Undead Warrior, but then I wanted to try different kind of classes and races. So for me it has went... (Long list.)

Undead Warrior, took this to level 11.
Troll Hunter, took this to level 8.
Orc Shaman, took this to level 7.
Tauren Warrior, took this to level 9.

But then... my friends from FFXI got into Open Beta, and they wanted to be alliance so then it went....

Dwarf Warrior, (Level 6)
Dwarf Paladin, (Level 10)
NightElf Warrior, (Level 9)

So far, Warrior is my favorite class, lol. With my Dwarf Paladin though, I had my blacksmithing skill almost to 70, and my mining skill was 72, and the armor and weapons I made was very very worth it. I'm thinking about doing the same for my NightElf Warrior. And come release, I think I'm going to be a NightElf on a U.S. Central server.(If anybody would like to join me. ^^ )But.... everything is subject to change....again. :)
