I was just wondering, I looked at the World Of Warcraft community site and it says I can have a Dragon Whelping or a Worg(and others) and I was wondering where I could find those two things to buy. Also I was wondering since small pets can't attack, if I'm a human paladin can I get a larger pet that can attack?

Well me being 13 so far and only playing as a Night Elve, ive only noticed 1 vendor that sold Owls and Horned Owls. They were kinda expensive for me at the time (50 Silver). I know some of the pets are Collectors Edition only, but i know Vendors sell them and probably able to buy them off the AH.
The only pets that help you fight are tamed pets - you can only have those as a Hunter job.
Near Goldshire in the human area I bought a pet cat for 40 silver. They don't do anything, but they're fun to have.

They are also dropped in instances, refuse to say which one tho :P

Don't know about instances post 27 tho so I cant tell for sure if any mobs in those drop pets.
(lvl 1 pet that dies instantly from any AoE, you can summon it when it dies tho so dont worry ^^)
