Lineage2 clone?Follow

#1 Nov 11 2004 at 11:33 AM Rating: Decent
Granted, I've only played 2 days so far, but so far, everything about the game seems to be a Lineage 2 clone.

The UI, Quest system, looting, etc etc gives me the same impression Lineage 2 did.

Anyone that played both games and can comment on the higher end of WoW?

I played Lineage2, and don't see any comparison....
Lineage2 was incredibly boring and dull...
i'm not sure I get how you can suggest WoW is a clone.
Sounds like you're trolling

no I assure you I am not trolling....

I'll give you that calling it a "clone" isnt doing WoW justice but I dont see why you dont see a similarity. Take away the graphic difference. Then the quest system, the UI, are both become very similar to me. Granted Lineage 2 was dull with mindless grinding of exp and full of bots farming cash, and generally full of griefers but the chat UI, the quest system, especially at the first 10+ or so level the game was very similar.

Looking for input from someone whos played both game to the high levels....

Well, first off no red system for PvP. Going red *shudder*

Second, the quest system in WOW is much deeper- more like FFXI. Quests spawn special mobs, have in depth multi-part quests branching off each other, and have a lot more than just "Go out and get an X from ob Y" that L2 had.

And of course no grind. L2- level up for a week, then grind money for two so you can repeat next month. If you didn't just get unlucky, lose a piece of eq randomly at death and need to start all over (I lost my weapon and quit).

I'm 99% done with download of WoW, so I'll know soon
But I played Lineage II, and I'm so hoping that the level slope doesn't go up like Lineage II did (every next level was like +1 more hour of exp) while EverQuests was basically the same every level

I played Lineage 2 until i was a lvl 45 Spellsinger, i find this game to be not really like Lineage 2 at all. It is not only different but at least 3 times better, its best not to even mention the two in the same sentence because L2 Sucked, WoW is Fun. I didnt really have much fun playing L2, i just played cause my friends played and i lacked anything better to do. WoW is actually something fun to do and it has a way better loot, economy, mob, pvp, and everything else system.

WoW more reminds me of Asheron's Call 2 than Lineage2, but I only played L2 for a few weeks of beta (didn't care for it much.)

Really, I think a lot of MMOs are copying things from each other. What I thought was really funny was how much the story line of EQ2 matched AC2. Hundreds of years later... Land masses shattered by some kind of cataclismic event... the moon even broken up and now a band of color in the nights sky...

Funny!

After playing for a few more hours Im convinced its the same engine as L2.

Thats not a bad thing, as L2 had a chance to be a good game, but it was ruined by the people, and the lack of support / things to do in L2. Blizzard seems to have built a much more enjoyable game on top of it, but they are both built on the same engine.

I hope they fix all the technical issues that was apparent in L2... (such as the autorun issue and the mobs running past you and attacking you from behind when you pull a mob. No, this is not the mobs AI. It also the same problem that occurred on L2 after C1 update.)
